With the way the season has unfolded thus far - extra inning games and starter's not going deep into ballgames and having a reliever on the staff that seems clearly not ready and Masset looking like he won't be ready anytime soon - I think it would behoove the General Manager of this team to send down a position player and bring up another reliever before they burn out the bullpen.
Frazier or Harris. Flip a coin. At this point it makes no difference to me. Just save the bullpen arms please.

If Frazier ever got sent down and Harris stayed, this place would explode.

The bullpen has been the obvious strength of this team early in 2012. Let's try to keep it that way.

Again, you mean?

Yes. Again. Especially if Frazier came up right as he was getting hot in Louisville, and never got a major league AB.

I bet he starts today though. Hopefully he does good things.

Exactly how much has Chapman or Marshall pitched so far this season? Outside of maybe Sam and Logan, what pitcher in teh bullpen has been taxed at this point?

Send down Harris - keep Frazier up - call up J.J. Hoover - 4 saves and a 12:1 K/BB ratio in Louisville so far this year - make some space in the pen to send Chapman to the starting rotation (at least for 2-3 starts to see how he does)

Here is a hint. Chapman has pitched more innings than either Lecure or Ondrusek. Simon has pitched only 1/3 inning less than Ondrusek. Arredondo has pitched only 2/3 innings less than Ondrusek. This pen has been worked. For a reference point, Tyler Clippard led the league in innings pitched as a reliever in 2011 with 88.3.

Name IP PNIP
Chapman 8.0 108.0
Lecure 7.7 103.5
Ondrusk 6.7 90.0
Simon 6.3 85.5
Aredndo 6.0 81.0

Send down Bray, or put him on the DL. I don't care how, but get rid of Bill Bray!

Wow I knew the bullpen was being used but those numbers put everything into perspective. Bray does need sent down to get his issues straightened out but theres no way we just get rid of him. Arroyo and Cueto(minus his first start vs. the Cards) are the only 2 starters we have currently that go deep in games. Latos needs to get his stuff together IMO. I know he starts cold but cmon. We gave up alot for this guy. He needs to put together some quality starts. I can live with Leake only going 5 or 6 unless hes pitching a gem, and Bailey is just so inconsistent he either goes 4 or 8. The good thing is the last 3 games the pen has had a rest. Hopefully leake can go deep today. Also a return of a healthy Masset would really help now. Just doesn't look good with them shutting him down again.

And how many total innings have the Reds played so far? I think the number ok extra innings have had more of an impact then the performance of the starters.

I tend to agree.
