First time Hanny will catch Latos. Wonder if Dusty's trying to get things better with Latos, or if its just because Mes caught the first two in Chicago?

Gonna be a hard win to eek out with Cain on the mound for San Francisco.

Cain has amazingly consistent lifetime stats v. righties and lefties. Righties have 2464 at bats against him. Lefties? 2465.

OPS - righties .657 against him, lefties .655.

Hits - righties 558 against him, lefties 553.

Homers - righties 58 against him, lefties 52.

Cain does tend to walk a few more lefties than righties and he strikes out more righties. His K/BB rate is 2.68 against righties and 2.02 against lefties. Edge to lefty batters over righties there.

But Reds shouldn't suffer much tonight from their lack of lefty bats. Cain is only marginally tougher against righties, if at all. Reds may suffer, however, because this guy is one fabulous pitcher.

Considering the backlash they're getting, I'd say it was marketing gone completely wrong.

You run a major risk of singling out certain elements of a market, especially when you cater to a fanbase largely outside of the state you're in.

I'm not a UK fan, but hey, well done to their team and coach. I can politely tip my cap and keep my big mouth shut.

Getting all riled up about it is a whole lot of silly. I didn't see Kentucky fans get all crazy about the Reds honoring the UC football team for winning the Big East or Xavier hoops or all the Ohio and Ky. HS teams winning championships.

I'd hope no one gets upset for an Ohio professional sports franchise honoring Ohio teams.

I don't even think there's a problem recognizing that Kentucky is a pro-Reds' market. However, if you're a baseball fan in Kentucky, you probably don't need marketed to anyhow. Chances are, you're already supporting the Reds.

It's bad marketing. The Reds should be catering to the millions of fans in Ohio that might be persuaded to be Indians' fans or otherwise be preoccupied with other sports. And if the Reds didn't see the outrage coming, it shows how disconnected they are from where their bread should be buttered.

I think it's much to do about nothing. In fact, as a native Ohioan who grew up in Hamiltucky, I know for a fact that many who live in the Buckeye state have no idea it is a different state than Kentucky.

It is happening in the game. The strike zone has all the sudden got very small at least for Latos

The ump forgot what a "knee" is.

Gameday is showing about a third of called balls as being well within the strikezone. Is this happening in the game, or is gameday off?

Nope, he's gotten screwed big time this inning.

I can deal with a small zone. I can deal with a big zone. What I can't handle is when it's inconsistent and unfairly advantageous to one pitcher over the other. Cain is getting strikes called that are clearly outside the zone. Latos getting the complete opposite. Nothing close called a strike and clear strikes called balls. Total BS. Who is this ump anyway?

He did for a strike three to Sandoval and it didn't get called.

I thought Latos did a fine job that inning.Good hitters battle and the Giants best hitters did just that. They still have nothing to show for all the hard work.
