No chance of rain the rest of this series. It going to be unseasonably warm for early May. In fact it feels more like July than May.

The next chance of rain for the Reds will be when they go to Pittsburgh, It always rains when they go to Pittsburgh.

If LaHair goes to second initially, I doubt they get Bruce at first. Run still scores but they only get one out.
Maybe he could have frozen the runner at third before going to second.
Still, not so cut and dry, IMO.

Yep. He doesn't have the power, but he's got excellent on base skills, plate disciple and he makes excellent contact. He's a VERY tough out in general. Plus Mesoraco just looks like a middle of the order bat in the making. Putting them both there just keeps the rest of the lineup stable as Dusty obviously loves doing.

Personally, I've got no problem with it being Votto & Bruce back to back 3/4 but Dusty seems to be obviously opposed to that idea unless he's got no other options. So if that idea is off the table...I'd like to see the tough out there.

You want the guy with the .735 career OPS, .714 last year, and .657 this year to protect Votto? Again, do you want him to walk 900 times?

You could always bat your second best hitter (Bruce) 4th, but I guess that makes too much sense.

I think the offensive roster needs an overhaul. Third, LF, and CF needs to be addressed with big bats. Then put Stubbs, Rolen, etc in for defense and spot starting. Lots of guys can hit. We could find these bats.

I don't see Dusty hitting Votto & Bruce back to back very often. So I'm thinking outside of the box with that option off the table.

As I said, Hanny doesn't have power, but he also isn't a strikeout waiting to happen...or a DP.

Stubbs is a high K chance no matter where you put him. Phillips just alters his approach too much in the cleanup role. We know how Rolen is there. The options are just too limited, so thinking outside of the box might just be the answer.

Doesn't look like that much of a drop off to me and you'd almost HAVE to expect a smaller percentage to be on for the 8 hole hitter.

With such a dramatic drop off in DP's hit into, I'd say it's a safe bet that he wouldn't hit into more in the 4 hole.

I just don't see the Reds suddenly becoming a better team, offensively or defensively, by getting rid of Rolen at the moment. Not saying they shouldn't pursue a quality 3B, but giving the job to Miguel Cairo or whoever doesn't seem like a much of an upgrade.

It's not a question of talent, it's a question of approach. Brandon swinging for the fences with one out left down by two in the bottom of the ninth? What the actual f?

I think its a combination of talent and approach, but if approach is your main concern I think you should start your replacing with the head of the dugout. We've all seen the Dusty quotes non stop. Swing first ask questions later.

Lack of a true cleanup hitter and the failures in left and shortstop killed last season. What did Walt do? We bring in retreads Ludwick, Harris, and Valdez. No true cleanup hitter and no hitting left fielder. Lots of outs in those bats. Pitching is wonderful, but our starter allowed 3 runs tonight and we lost. It will be a common theme. Oh, they'll break out now and then, but this is your 2012 Cincinnati Reds

Our guy gave up a couple of dingers, their guy was on top of his game. Pitching is once again the name of the game.
