Guys who are basically defensive replacements hitting 2nd and 6th, the best lead-off option hitting 4th and the best RH power hitting 7th and 8th.

Other than that the lineup looks pretty good though.

McCutchen back in the lineup. He's there sparkplug. We need to keep him off the bases. I know Mes has to catch sometimes but it seems Homer is the only pitcher that is working well with him. Maybe Leake needs a start with Hannigan to get straightened around. It seemed to have worked for Latos. I agree that Mes could get some starts in LF once in a while. Hannigan just calls a much better game at this point, and frames the pitches a whole lot better

Control control control..thats been his issue so far this year. So far tonight he at least hasn't left pitches over the heart of the plate.

Yep. For a control pitcher, it's a HUGE problem. A few more bad outings and I think the Reds just might use a Leake option and start the Chapman transition.

RedsfaninMT

Geez! In May? Sorry man!

That's alright, man. When the Reds are 6 up in August, our temps will be 85, with lows of 55 at night. And I love 7:10 start times (EDT), as for me it means the games are over by 8:30.

DGullett35
05-05-2012, 07:29 PM

_Sir_Charles_

DGullett35
05-05-2012, 07:58 PM
Heisey was almost jogging last night when he hit that ball off the top of the wall, then he turned on the jets. How hard is it to hustle on every play? That has to be the easiest thing a ball player has to do

I don't know. Phillips is decent. Cozart might be. Hanigan gets the most of what he's got, but it only makes him passable. Mesoraco might be good. Rolen's best days are behind him though. Ludwick's maybe as well. Stubbs wasn't ever a good hitter in the minors or college and Heisey and Frazier are bench players. They at least need some guys who can fill a niche with a platoon advantage here and there but the lopsided roster is killing them IMO.

Nice slick play there from Cozart. Really nice.

Cozart is a fine player. He fields very well and his offense isn't the type to carry the team, but plays very well for his position.

I'm not giving Leake a strong outing tonight. He's facing the worst offense in MLB and one that hasn't scored more than five runs in a game all year. Leake gave up just about the max that Pitt is capable of scoring.

And with the reds bats, which belong in hospice, three runs given up is a loss.
