Ain't gonna happen until Rolen gets hurt. Until then, Todd will get those get-away day starts and the day game after night game starts. Sucks, but true.

_Sir_Charles_
05-08-2012, 09:04 PM
Sounds like Homer has absolutely no advantage with two strikes on people.

That's part of it, but the Brewers are wasting a LOT of good pitches. Homer has good command of the zone from what I'm seeing. But they're working the count pretty well.

He's also made a couple of poor 2 strike pitches, like that one to Braun just now. Hung a breaker there.

Overall, he's not really pitching poorly, he just can't put guys away for some reason. He's throwing strikes, so that's not the problem.

67 pitches, 43 strikes, 24 balls. Not a bad ratio at all.

Is any of this related to Mes?

Welsh noted that Homer has been shaking Mes off a bunch so far. Not sure if that means anything.

_Sir_Charles_
05-08-2012, 09:05 PM
Is any of this related to Mes?

I think it's more the fact that Homer's breaking ball isn't great today and the Brewers hitters are doing a great job of wasting pitches.

kbrake
05-08-2012, 09:06 PM
Is any of this related to Mes?

It looks to me like Bailey has no command of anything offspeed and the Brewers are starting to figure out the fastball because they know he has to lean on it. Just doesn't seem like Homer's night.

K#3 10 pitch inning. Baby steps.

In some ways, an encouraging outing for Homer. He just seems to be throwing well with good velocity. He's had injury issues, but looks like a healthy pitcher tonight.

Those three 0-2 pitches hurt him, particularly the one to Lucroy. Homer still makes mistakes and doesn't always thrive with men on base. He still has a ways to go for sure.

But he seems to have pretty good stuff out there tonight, just watching him on TV.

_Sir_Charles_

Glad I missed this one tonight. It's Election Day in West Virginia and I had, as a minor elected official to work until just now. Kept up with the game thread on my phone, but RZ kept freezing up. Nonetheless, I might have melted down with Homer being Homer and the offense being the offense. Didn't need the stress. We'll get them tomorrow.
