Looks like it will be one of those frustrating games to follow as the Reds probably have orders to be aggressive early in the count. Each batter for the Reds starts off with a ball but none wait for a called strike to start swinging. so much for driving up the pitch count.

Besides being an excelelnt pitcher, Hudson is one that throwes strikes.

If you look at the spilts, you best chance of hitting him is on the first pitch, or after he has fallen behind.

Letting strikes go by is death to a pitcher like Hudson, as the strikes will get more marginal the more favourable the pitching count.

On a hit and run, Heisey legs out an infield single. As it was a hard play for Jones to make (a weak grounder), Bruce tried to leg it out and make it to third, but is gunned out on a play at the bag.

That's exactly how I feel. If anyone isn't completely on their game on the Braves' defense, Bruce is easily safe.

It looked like he was safe if the lead leg would have went straight to the bag. Still not sure Wilson got him, but the ball beat Bruce and the slide looked funny.

Except Hudson hasn't pitched that many innings yet this year and has not had pinpoint control either. 5BB in like 18 innings. If he is starting everyone off with balls don't help him get in a flow by swinging early.

Not to beat a dead horse but Bruce is up 1-0 to a pitcher who has thrown 7 straight balls and walked two guys when you are down 4 and he swings at a marginal strike.
