View Full Version : Daniel Murphy?

Keith Hernandez said tonight it would be pretty difficult for Chapman to convert to a starter this year. So assume he is in relief for 2012. Also, runs given up by Bullpens: Reds 29 – Mets 69.

Now Daniel Murphy can play 3rd and left, can really hit, and is .... a left handed batter. What would it take to get him? Ondrusek straight up?

I like Murphy, but Ondrusek is to valuable. He is getting better each and every time out. He could be a closer in the future. No way do I trade him. Pieces in the bullpen are very important, good BP wins championships. I would rather see what we have with Frazier

I like what we have right now in the field....I would love to add a power bat in left field but I dont see anyone available without us giving up some of our studs in the minors....losing Yonder is going to sting, guy is figuring out how to hit and he is not playing a bad 1st base....I have seen him mess a few plays up where he is out of position or whatnot, but for the most part he is going to stick around in this league for awhile....we dont need to trade anymore young guns until we know what we have with our already young guns.....

If Frazier can figure out how to hit a slider then we will be fine...he can catch up to the fastball on any count, once he learns some pitch recognition then he might just be the 3rd baseman of the future for the Reds.....Heisey is what he is, I just have this little inkling that he is not going to get any better....I hope I am wrong and I hope these past few days are him getting hot and staying hot and showing what he can do.....if he can be the guy we all want him to be then this team is set up for a Pennant.....yes I said it, a pennant.....

lets stand still and see what we have till at least mid july before we go cleaning out the farm system again....we need some younger guys to keep improving down there for us, we do not need to see them batting .300 for other teams

As of now, Murphy seems firmly entrenched at 2nd for the Mets. Until they (the Mets) seem out of it, Turner and Valdespin keeping the seat warm for Satin, if Satin is indeed the Mets 2nd baseman of the future doesn't seem likely from the NY standpoint.

Murphy is certainly a good potential trade target, though, when/if the season goes awry for the Mets.

I would only consider dealing Ondrusek if/when Masset returns and performs well enough to justify dealing Ondrusek, even with Arredondo in the mix.

Why would it be difficult?

Utter nonsense and rubbish. It's what he's done his whole career.

I'm just the messenger. Although it might be said that a guy who hit 300 six times, won 11 consecutive golden gloves, has written three books about baseball, and serves as analyst in the biggest market in the world, has some credibilty on the subject. It might be said.

Except we really need another left handed hitter.

To be honest we could use some right-handed hitting as well.

RHB so far in 2012 - .228/.278/.345/.623 - That is like having a lineup of nothing but Edgar Renterias (vintage 2011) hitting. That probably is not gonna get the job done.

True enough, but if we had another decent left handed bat in this organization, they could rest Stubbs and not have to play Ludwick at all against against a lot of right handers.

This team is never going to afford a big time hitter unless he comes out of the organization. But a half way decent left handed hitter is doable, and would really make this team so much better.

Do you know the splits of our right handed hitters against left handed pitchers as opposed to right handed pitchers?

Thanks. Good job. So when we face a right handed pitcher, 6 of the 8 starters in our line up are hitting .219.
