Meet the Mets for todays game:

1. Andres Torres (S) CF
2. Kirk Nieuwenhuis (L) LF
3. David Wright (R) 3B
4. Lucas Duda (L) RF
5. Daniel Murphy (L) 2B
6. Ike Davis (L) 1B
7. Ronny Cedeno (R) SS
8. Mike Nickeas (R) C
9. R.A. Dickey (R) P

Shame on Collins for not breaking up the leftys.

Lefties have murdered Dickey this year, while he's mastered righties. If I were making out the lineup, Costanzo would be at 3rd and Frazier in left.

Hopefully, Ludwick, who appears to be on a long leash, will surprise me.

Shame on Collins for not breaking up the leftys.

Played in Chapman's favor last night. Not that it would have mattered much. Couldn't have hit him with an oar at the plate.

Chapman has not pitched back to back games all year. The rap on him as a reliever is that he doesn't bounce back on consecutive days. Yet, Baker's style is to overrely on his top 2-3 BP guys, thus Chapman will be vulnerable to misuse by DB, IMO. Dusty could only resist so long.

Except he took strike 3 right down the middle, and it didn't get called. I mean right down the middle. Good god.

Not meant to be, errors, borderline calls against the Reds, poor base running, just not going to happen.

Plus it's not like Chapman and Ondrusek were going to go the whole year without being scored on.

I've seen a lot of horrible balls-strikes calls in my day. That one might have taken the prize. 2-2 on Wright, right down the middle, and it's somehow called a ball! Then Wright doubles on the next pitch. Amazing. I mean, that wasn't even close. I re-wound it. Wow.

Keep in mind though folks that the Mets bullpen is still susceptible to failure.

This has been 1 disappointing game, blowing a 4-0 lead to be down 5-4.

2nd and 3rd no outs in 6th = 0 runs

2nd with no outs in 7th = 0 runs

Shoddy defense at 3B and CF, poor baserunning, and another mediocre start from mat latos, who was handed a 4-run lead and could only go 5 innings.

I think you're spot on. It's hard to blame any one player today, but the amount of blunders and mental mistakes today has been disappointing.

One can hope. But 6 unanswered is pretty awful, especially when you have a 4 run lead.

Edit: no chance now. The Reds aren't going to score 5 runs in the 9th.

I give both Chapman and Ondrusek passes. They have been nearly flawless for 6 weeks. Can't ask for more than that. Just not happy with the other things (Frazier and Stubbs' defense, Latos' mediocre performance, and the missed strike call on Wright namely).

Well, so much for the flawless records of Chapman and Ondrusek...had to happen sometime.

Chapman is still technically perfect. The run wasn't earned. I thought Chapman, on a day that he didn't have his best stuff, was actually very good. He battled and even though he gave up a run, he still did well. Ondrusek had a miserable day, but that's okay. He deserves a complete pass on this one.

Ondrusek not throwing meatballs to Wright and Cedeno would have helped too.

I didn't like the way Ondrusek pitched his previous outing, although there was no damage done. I hope he's not injured in some way.

Otherwise, yes, he was a victim of the law of averages.

It's hard to sweep series on the road. This isn't a disaster by any means. Have to win one or two at Yankee Stadium, can't get swept, need a decent road performance. (In other words, hopefully Cueto will pitch.)

This Reds team just keep proving to me over and over that they are no better than a .500 team. Dumb misplays in the field and lack of clutch hitting all point to a very mediocre team. We'll see what they can do in Yankee Stadium this weekend. Pitching matchups favor them in the first two and the last game is a great matchup between Cueto and Sabathia.

First of all they are playing some good teams right now. If they can play .500 through this stretch, that'd be great.

However I don't think they are much better than a .500 team right now. In order to get better, they need a reliever so that Chapman can go into the rotation and they need either a 3B or a LF. I think LF is easier to fill so I think they should be working on that and we'll have to live with Frazier at 3B. But give me a middle reliever and a LF and the mediocre division is ours for the taking. Maybe Bray can be that middle reliever. I don't know but I don't see a LF option in the organization
