Barmes double, Barajas scores. 2-2 game.

Simon warming.

_Sir_Charles_
06-05-2012, 08:17 PM
Something just isn't right with Homer. He's sitting at 91 on his fastball. He's almost refusing to throw his breaking balls. Get him out already!

Nice tag by Votto to end the inning.

I really think something's wrong with Homer. Maybe he's sick/ill?

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:23 PM
Cozart whacks to McGehee whose throw pulls the first baseman off but he sweep tags Cozie and 1down

cbowen2112
06-05-2012, 08:24 PM
Funny part was when Thom says Homer is the #2 starter if we start the playoffs. Unmm...not really. Maybe 3rd. Arroyo is more reliable in the early innings. Bailey is scary at times. I know it is one bad outing, but let's hope this Homer disappears soon.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:26 PM
Votto takes a half hack swing at a pitch down and grounds out 5-3

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:26 PM
And Burnett gets a 1-2-3 fanning BP to end the inning.

RedlegJake

walker just slaps a single right over 2nd into center

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:33 PM
Runner goes, Mes makes a perfect throw, Mes has a look of disbelief as he's called safe...he looks out to me

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:34 PM
Simon blows it by McCutcheon swinging

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:36 PM
Mes blocks that one in the dirt....2-1 count on Jones now

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:36 PM
scorching liner but Votto makes a legs spread leaping grab and nabs it!

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:37 PM
That was sweet - another half inch and another run scores

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:42 PM
Bruce flies out to Jones in right - he doesn't even move as he grabs it

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:43 PM
really close. 3-1 Heisey hit it just fair right over the bag, fielded it behind the bag and flipped to the pitcher who was late covering

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:44 PM
Frazier smokes a single

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:44 PM
Devin could really help the cause right here.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:45 PM

Mike Costanzo in to try and get a hit. Try, try and try again. and try again. and again

Virginia Beach Reds

Virginia Beach Reds

1-18 with 10 k's. bad, bad, bad. He swung at a pitch that bounced at the plate. Put him out his misery!

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:50 PM
Alright. I am even ready to try out Joey Gathright. At least he would be useful pinch running on occasion

Why is Costanzo on the team?

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:52 PM
Matt Hague high pop fly to shallow center that Stubbs comes in and grabs calling off BP.

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 08:52 PM
Why is Costanzo on the team?

I have no idea. I guess it's a true testament to the Louisville position players.

McGhee homers. Bam! It just kind of floated out.

Call up Gathright. At least he has a useful skill in that he's fast.

RedlegJake

His first home run. GAB makes another slugger.

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 08:54 PM
pop fly at most other parks is in the 3rd row at GABP. Some very weak hitters are getting healthy.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:55 PM
lowest OBP, fewest hits in MLB, fewest runs, worst offensive team in basball but our pitchers are making them look like murderer's row

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 08:55 PM
Lance was brainstorming what GABP can do to make this field play more friendly. Put up netting, plexiglass out in right and left. build a red monster?

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:57 PM
Finally inning ends, but the Pirates add a run. 7-2

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 08:59 PM
Seriously, you have to think at some point they quit waiting for Costanza to hit and bring someone else up.

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 09:00 PM
I heard Mark Kotsay might be a target out in San Diego. Might be worth a shot.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:01 PM
Cozart takes strike 3 and it was a beauty. Don't know what he wanted there.

alloverjr
06-05-2012, 09:01 PM

Then the Reds would never score. It's very rare that a team's OBP is HR driven. :)

Nice tag by Votto to end the inning.

I really think something's wrong with Homer. Maybe he's sick/ill?

Sometimes he doesn't have his slider. When he doesn't, its Katie bar the door. Same thing happened in Milwaukee.

However, part of his maturing process is to figure out how to survive without getting shelled when he doesn't have "stuff." He's proven twice now that he has not figured that out.

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 09:03 PM
Burnett pitching around Stubbs to get to Votto...

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:03 PM

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:04 PM
I think Stubbs was on second when Joey hit that ball

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 09:04 PM
When is Dusty going to drop Cozart from leadoff into a better role around 7? Gotta be soon. Swap him and BP, move up Bruce.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:05 PM
swing and miss, now strike 2. C'mon Joey.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:06 PM

Lance was brainstorming what GABP can do to make this field play more friendly. Put up netting, plexiglass out in right and left. build a red monster? Its all about the power alleys, not LF or RF porches. Structurally that's going to be a hard fix. I think the "cheap homer" is overblown. It looks that way because the seats are right on the fence.

RedlegJake

Brandon even looks like a leadoff hitter when he is batting cleanup - he just doesn't look like a cleanup hitter. And he strikes out. 8 Ks for Burnett.

Heisey has some major warts. But if Walt's not going to get an upgrade for LF, then just put Heisey out there every day, or Ludwick (not my choice). Give one of them a chance to get and stay in a groove longer than 2 games in a row. Please.

Virginia Beach Reds
06-05-2012, 09:35 PM
I'm not sure what value Ludwick has on this team if we foresee trying to make the postseason. Seems like a guess hitter with a slow bat. Similar to others on the bench at this point.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 09:37 PM
Cozart with a diving snag - the ball rolls up his arm and back into his glove. He's out

My theory is....the laid back Baker and his whatever 'tude towards the Pirates and then Oh well....tough to sweep the Astros at home?? BS.

He didn't really swing at that first one. He turned his body and the ball ran in on him and hit the bat. But that last swing was pathetic. And the called strike was down the pike.

RedlegJake

If Bailey and Hoover had missed low as Jose has this game would be 3-1 or so right now in the Reds favor. Both of them were high all night when they pitched. You could see the damage coming.

My theory is....the laid back Baker and his whatever 'tude towards the Pirates and then Oh well....tough to sweep the Astros at home?? BS.

It just trickles down. Like this is no big deal. Like wasting games against inferior teams is OK.What does this mean? He gave Votto a day off? They couldn't hit James MacDonald? That the Astros have a 17-12 at home vs. 6-19 on the road? That Homer showed up without a slider tonight? That the Pirates only hitter has an 0fer while the interstate hitters have driven in 5 runs and had 5 hits between them.

Dude, its baseball, a 162 game season. Knute Rockne was a football coach for a reason.

That probably has about a .00001 chance of being the case.

Miggy hits into a 6-4-3 dp

After Cairo was injured, they rushed him back. He did two rehab games at Dayton, and then got called back up. Clearly, he could have used more regular playing time to get his game back, and he should have spent those couple weeks trying to warm up his bat.

RedlegJake
06-05-2012, 10:18 PM
Our bench isn't worthless - its just that they're starting in left and third. And as mbgrayson points out Miggy's been injured and needs time. He's an excellent bench player. We need a couple regulars to get our bench back

My guess is he's just done. Since it was a 6-4-3 he obviously pulled it. Curve? Change? Although not nearly as bad as Costanzo, but like Rolen before the DL, he has to cheat on everything and just rolls over anything not thrown at the barrel of the bat. He use to sit and drive balls to RF. I haven't seen that from him this year.
