No idea - pure speculation, but perhaps with Rolen set to come off the DL, Dusty wanted Negron to get into a game before he gets sent down. Of course, if Stubbs is on the DL, and I missed it, then clearly bad speculation.

He swung at one last night that bounced about five feet in front of home plate. I like the kid, but I think sometimes he makes his mind up that he's going to swing no matter what. Pitchers will get hip to that if he doesn't adjust.

Heisey most definitely will go to the DL. Rolen will come off the DL to take his place, sliding Frazier to LF. However, Negron seems to be the only CF on the team.

A DL stint for this?...

Mild left groin strain. taken out for precautionary reasons.

Rolen is supposed to do a few rehab games in Louisville and be back Monday. If Heisey is out though they may change that.

should only be for a couple days as Stubbs is due back this weekend

Love to see this Hoover kid get an opportunity to start. You can never have enough good starting pitching. And if you do, you can trade it for other needed help.

Usually it is the guy who takes over for the starter but Arredondo only threw 5 pitches. Will they give him the win based on that?

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to just give it to Leake in this situation.

I would have suggested Simon for pitching the longest, but it can be somewhat arbitrary. Did Arredondo get us out of a jam. I can't remember it was so long ago.

Valden also K'd.

5-4 home stand, it could have been better, it could have been a lot worse. Nice rebound to sweep the Tribe after going 2-4 against Pittsburgh and Detroit. Reds catch a break in this next series that they miss both Johan and Dickey.
