There are only 6 series remaining before the All-Star Break. @CLE (off day), MIN, MIL, @SF (4 game), @LAD and @SD (4 game). The only series that really concerns me is the Dodgers (SF too...kind of), but the Reds notoriously have difficulty out West.

If the Reds win every series but sweep none, we will enter the All-Star Break 19, yes 19, games over .500.

Thoughts? Predictions?

Pirates face MIN, DET, @PHI, @STL, HOU, SF
Cards face @DET, @KC, @MIA, PIT, COL, MIA

In the past the WC has killed the Reds, heck it even cost one Reds manager his job. But as of the past couple of seasons it has not been that bad. SF will be tough, even though we took 3 out of 4 from them in cincy, I would hope for a split. The Dodgers series will come down to whom we face pitching wise and SD we should take 2 out of 3. So to me I would be happy with a 5-5 WC road trip. As for the remainder I say we take 1 out of 3 from Cleveland, 2 out of 3 from Twins and split with Brewers, or 5-5, so over the next 20 games I see our Reds staying about where they are going .500 pretty much over the coming games before the ASB..

I could see the Pirates taking 2/3, going 1/3 with Detriot and Philly and Stl and going 2/3 with Giants and 2/3 from Giants or 9-9 while Cards go 1/3 at Det, 2/3 at KC, 1/3 at Miami, 2/3 at Pir and Col and Mia..so Cards go 10-8over that stretch and gain 2 on the Reds so going into the ASB I see

Reds first
Cards 2nd 4 games back
Pirates 3rd 4 games back

Reds will be somewhere near 50-35 at the ASB. Winning each series would be amazing but of the 20 next games, 14 are away - 3 in Cleveland, 11 in California. Im figuring we split with SF and get one win against LAD. Assuming our 65-game trend of Runs/G and RA/G continue over this span, pythags have us at 48/49 wins (going .500 until the ASB)

I think we do just a little better than what the "math" tells us. 15 above .500 ain't bad for halfway through.

Losses, right?

Yes, Let's hope. I'm more confident about the 12 wins and 8 losses than I am about when and where we lose.

I like it. Would love to see a few more W's, but I think at 12-8 we still hold the division lead at the break. Hopefully Kemp isn't in the lineup @LAD.

Aren't there 21 games?

3 4-game series and 3 3-game?

Pretty sure there is only 20. You said 4 game series vs. Milwaukee, but I see only 3 (M-T-W)

I show @ cleveland - 3, Minnesota - 3, Milwaukee - 3, @ San Fran - 4, @ LA - 3, @ San Diego - 4, so total of 20.

I'm counting 3 vs CLE, 3 vs MIN, 3 vs MIL, 4 vs SF, 3 vs LAD, 4 vs SD

Which one of these 3 game series is supposedly 4 games?

None, I had the MIL series as a 4-game, but it's three.

First time I've ever been wrong about something!

11-9

2/3 CLE, 2/3 MIN, 2/3 MIL, 2/4 SF, 1/4 LA, 2/4 SD

I'm thinking we will see better pitching from Latos. If bullpen stays great and Bray looks good I can see us making a trade move. There's a few teams needing Relief, we will see one team tonight...Mets, St. Louis, Miami, Detroit...

I think the next couple weeks could be the time to put this division away. The Reds have played over .600 ball since their low point (34-19) over a 55 game stretch. I don't anticipate a stretch of 20+ games of anything less than .500 at this point barring any injuries. A 12-8 stretch or better would be nice and might give them an 8-10 game division lead heading into All Star Break.

Before the west coast swing i predicted the Reds would go 4-7 and enter the All-Star break tied for second in the NL Central. Regretfully I stand-by that prediction, according to the adage "whoever is in first on July 4th will win the division" then the Pirates will win the Central. The Reds have to score more than 1 run a game, Harang must be feeling smug tonight:(
