....starting tonight.

The Reds and Single-A affiliate Dayton confirmed today that CF Drew Stubbs will join the Dragons Friday for their game at Dayton’s Fifth Third Field, as Stubbs (left oblique) begins a rehab assignment.

“It’s what we think is the best for him and us, because we don’t need him to come back and be struggling when he comes back,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said Wednesday.

How would that be any different before he went on the DL? He was struggling then. Knowing Stubbs, he may not be back until the roster expands in September. :)

He'll be back soon. If Heisey were making things happen out of the 2 hole it would be one thing, but he's really not. Neither guy gets on base a whole lot, neither guy hits for average, and Heisey's power has pretty much disappeared. He had a chance to show he deserves to be an everyday player (LF or CF) and he really hasn't.

Stubbs numbers in the 2 hole are decent, at least he was scoring runs whenever he got on base. We'll be getting back to that as soon as possible I would think.

And to add to it, to me it's all about the guy hitting in front of Votto. A great argument could be made that neither should, but the reality is that one of them will be.

Stubbs in the 2 hole is a .280 hitter with a .348 OBP and is OPSing .824. Not a small sample size either.

Heisey in the 2 hole is a .209 hitter with a .244 OBP and is OPSing .500. That is a smaller sample size, but as a bench guy trying to win a job that's all you get sometimes.

Can we start a betting pool on how many times he strikes out in A-ball?

Stubbs was playing very well before he went on the DL. He'll be back in the starting lineup as soon as he is healthy.

Stubbs went 1 for 10 with 2 K's in 3 games at Dayton. Lets hope he improves on those numbers when he comes back.

.235 For the year and .182 in the last nine games before going on the DL.

Per Fay that appears to be the move.

I sure hope he comes back and produces, but 1-10 in Dayton earns you a trip back to the big leagues? That's kind of sad. If he can't hit 19 year old kids, how will he hit Gallardo? Personally I hope he bats .400 over the next 25 games and is traded before the deadline.

Sounds like he's in his mid-season form.

Even if he doesn't hit .400, I do the trade.

2-3 with a walk, double, stolen base, and 2 runs scored in his first game back

If there's one thing Stubbs is good at it's finding his way around the bases. He scores a lot of runs for a guy who doesn't get on base a ton.

Drew Stubbs is awesome that's why.
