And Frazier makes his exit from the lineup. I'm so glad we have Dusty here to "connect with the players." Was really hoping it would take a little longer than this. Dont' give me any "just and off day" crap either, he had an off-day yesterday with everyone else, he doesn't need one today. /rant

Well I would assume with a day game tomorrow we will see Frazier back. Plus next two games are with lefty SP's and Frazier's splits v leftys is very nice.

Random -- but does anyone think the "Is your pitching coach teaching this position" ad is mildly ironic?

It has a picture of Strausburg who throws 100 mph and claims "this position is costing you velocity"

Unfortunately no Brian Dinkelman, he would have topped it off. He used to bat before/after Plouffe in AAA.

Based on his swings lately, he's earned a day off.

People also forget that Frazier also isnt that likely to sustain his early season production. I think he's a fine starter, but to suggest he should be immune to days off because of a hot 2 months is insane IMO.

I'm not sure what it was with Homer tonight. I'm not sure if he was getting squeezed, if he was just off tonight or what. But one thing he hasn't been doing this year is walking batters. 3 tonight. He's been a strike throwing machine for quite a while now. Hopefully tonight was just an off night.

Absolutely awful to give up this many runs to a joke of an offense like the Twins (5 runs in 6 innings). Horrible time to use Bray for the first time back -- bases loaded and one out. However, terrible job by Bray of not being ready when he was called upon. Facing the leadoff batter (no one that is a threat to drive the ball) and puts himself in a 3-0 hole. Awful!

And another ho-hum start from Homer Bailey. He's OK. I don't dislike him, but he's "ho-hum."

Baker would have had to make the choice to warm up Marshall early in that inning, no idea the bases would be loaded.

The crap single by the 8th place hitter was what changed that inning.

This one falls squarely on Homer's shoulders. Rolen gave him a lead after he trailed in the game. Homer needed to work relatively clean fifth and sixth innings. He didn't come close.

And in the sixth he was near the bottom of the order and still couldn't get them out. Left the bases loaded for Bray.

FYI, I would have had Marshall warming up, because you can use him for an inning any time, and some lefties were coming up. Would not have been a waste using him early knowing it was a tight game and you had 2 other lefties to sit on later.

One would think that pitching to minor leaguers in a meaningless game is less stressful than pitching to major league hitters with the bases loaded in his first appearance since the DL. He hadnt pitched in such a situation since coming back so I would think he was understandably "rusty".

I understand why he brought in Bray, but the thought of saving Marshall for 2 innings in the future doesnt mean much to me when this was likely to be just as high leverage of a situation once the first guy got on.

Mesoraco had a poor at bat. It may have been a ball, but it was very close. Mes fouled off some pitches that were clearly balls. Suddenly, on that one, he froze.

Have to hit the fly ball there, kid.

And Walt, THAT is why you need lefties on your team. No way Todd Frazier was the man for that spot. THAT's why managers use lefty/righty matchups in the late innings.

I'm just frustrated because the Reds should have had those first two games against the Tribe, and they didn't. It is what it is. But now they could really use a W coming off the sweep, and they can't hit the Twins terrible pitching and can't get out their typically punchless hitters.
