Just checked the stats of Greinke vs. reds Batters.

Stubbs has hit him well (6 for 14, 2 doubles).
Ludwick is oh for 11 with 6Ks. (Heisey and Frazier oh for 3, 2Ks).
Votto 4 for 14, with 3 Hrs.

Willie Harris is 8 for 14 against Greinke. Could have used him today.

Bailey will have to be on his game today.

Wow, that Brewers lineup is a shell of the fearsome one they've put up the last few years. So wracked by injuries.

Of course, that means that the makeshift lineup is dropping hits all over the place and they score 8 runs and Greinke handcuffs the Reds on a 3 hitter.

If you tune in the Reds game, every day, after the first inning, you get the same line. Reds with one baserunner, Votto, no runs. It happens constantly.

Second point for today- Phillips must get a terrible break out of the batter's box. He's not slow yet he hits into a lot of DPs. On that last play, the swinging bunt to third, he should have beaten it, but for some reason he isn't that fast from home plate to first base.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Nobody is asking for him to be a regular player at this point, to my knowledge.

I think even the Week's homer would have been potentially catchable for Stubbs. Would have got to the wall faster, and been in position for a good jump. Just barely got out.

That's an unfair of course, but it is ugly watching Heisey patrol such a key position. It's not like he has been a monster hitter out there.

The Reds are 6th in #2 OBP, 2 pts away from being top 5.

But as you know, the Reds are (or were when I last checked) dead last in the number one spot, by a mile.

Average it all in, consider Heisey's stay at second in the order, the marks are pretty low for the tablesetters.

Agree that Stubbs has hit well in the two hole. He seems to thrive there in front of Votto. Frankly, I don't know why Heisey needed to play CF today, Stubbs looked pretty healthy the last two days.

I think Heisey should be sent to the minor leagues.

He's always been a low OBP hitter, who compensated with good power. He's changed his hitting approach apparently. The result is a low OBP hitter without much power.

If the Reds still think Chris has potential to be a semi-regular player in the big leagues, they should send him someplace to get his hitting straightened out.

Agree. He really has only one thing going for him, the ability to play CF, which he doesn't do all that well either. If he doesn't offer power, I don't really see a role for him as a backup outfielder. We'd be better off with someone who can either a. get on base or b. hit with power. The Reds are undoubtedly focused on improving the lead off spot. I'm predicting that they will have a good lead off hitter, if not this year, then by opening day next year.

It's simple dollars and cents. The team isn't getting it's full money's worth from the Votto contract with a below par OBP man leading off. Not Joey's fault, but the team has to know that Joey can produce more runs with better tablesetters.

The walks are why I'd package hi - and the excellent numbers are the lure for a good return - it's not giving up its selling high for a guy who blows up once in a awhile but looks very dominant much of the time. I think he'd be valuable - and I like the bullpen well enough even without him. Add a couple other pieces and maybe you get a DeJesus or other player that fills a need
