No Frazier? Really?

You have four players for two positions. Five if you include Cairo.

They all are right handed hitters so there's no percentage advantage involved against right/left handed pitchers.

So how do you divide up the time for Rolen, Frazier, Heisey, Ludwick and occasionally Cairo?

Beats me. I have no clue. I'm sure Dusty has a reason, but it's really just an ad hoc sharing arrangement.

They are all good enough (except Cairo) to deserve some playing time. When? Who knows.

My guess is simply that Frazier and Heisey played yesterday. So Rolen returns today with Ludwick.

I really can't remember another situation like this. So many guys with similar profiles vying for the same positions with no clearcut starters and subs.

Frazier is having the best year, but he hasn't been declared an everyday player. None of them have.

Whatever.

I would be surprised. I look for Bruce to pass Phillips and finish in the mid- to high 200's, maybe even into the 300's. But Votto will likely be the Reds' all-time home run leader when he retires, provided he stays for the entirety of his contract.

If the Reds are going to trade for a bat it either has to be a CFer or they're going to have to move Bruce to CF because taking Ludwick's bat out of the lineup right now doesn't make a lot of sense.

I don't think they'll see it that way, I think they would be satisfied to platoon Ludwick and hit him against lefties.

It's certainly better to improve at CF, but probably a lot more difficult.

But we'll see, this is being debated all over RedsZone.

#1...I hope so. #2...and I know you disagreed with me, but I doubt Baker would know what to do with it.

You have to trade Stubbs and try and include Ondrusek...so you can take his favorite toys away (Or one of them) This is the only manager I could think of that would bat Eddie Joost 7th and Dave Chalk 2nd if he had them on the team.

I don't disagree, it depends on the move. It may be obvious for Dusty. It may not involve much discretion.

Again, I'm less concerned with batting orders and such, and more concerned with personnel.

I think Walt has been very quiet and must be working on something. The issues are SO obvious.

I don't know. Bruce is more of a HR hitter than Votto is. Votto's the much better hitter, but I think Bruce will end up as the all-time Reds leader.

Bruce may outhomer Votto by 5-10 in a given season, though sometimes it's a push. I just don't know that Bruce will spend his entire career in Cincinnati. I think that Votto will still be with the Reds after Bruce has moved on.

Ludwick just showed his limitation as a hitter. He was swinging for the fences there, wild long swings. Didn't make contact, left the guys on.

He has good power and will get his share of long balls, but he didn't show any situational hitting ability in that first and third spot.
