"The Red Sox should be sellers this month, John Tomase of the Herald writes. Cherington should strongly consider trading players such as Mike Aviles, Cody Ross and Kelly Shoppach, Tomase suggests."

What about Cody Ross? I have always liked his hard nose play. Could protect Votto if the Reds cant swing a deal for Willingham or Quinten.

OR Daniel Nava would help as he is young and a switch hitter as well

Definitely think they should be sellers.

Question is, what do we give up for Ross?

I just don't see Walt making any "major" moves due to lack of desire to give up remaining young talent.

I have never been a believer in Cody Ross. He is playing well this season, but I think we would be buying high on him. I would pass.

We don't need Ross as a tertiary plan. Willingham, Quinten, Upton or bust. Walt needs a move that is way better than Ross.

I'm not high on him, either. FWIW.

I'd take Nava over Ross, in that the Reds need a LH bat,( I know he is a SH, but that even adds to his value, IMHO) and he is young. But right now I really don't see LF as a "problem" area. We are getting better production there, than CF. Can Nava play there?
I wonder then, how much more than Bailey and Stubbs could pull Ellsbury. Leadoff CF, with speed, gets on base, scores runs and he earases every thought of Stubbs any of us ever had.

What about Matt Laporta from the tribe? Hes having a good minor league season, but I think management has really soured on him. Could we get him cheap ala the Phillips deal a few years ago with them. Seems to me a change of scenery could possibly do him well.

I know this is a sox thread, but i couldn't find a better one for this

That guy is useless. He has a career .302 OBP and never hit over .254 avg.
