Reds lineup:

Drew Stubbs CF
Zack Cozart SS
Todd Frazier 1B
Brandon Phillips 2B
Jay Bruce RF
Scott Rolen 3B
Chris Heisey LF
Ryan Hanigan C
Bronson Arroyo P

This is just a scheduled off day for Votto. Even before last night's game Dusty decided he was giving Votto today off.

Kind of the B-Squad with Heisey AND Stubbs, Rolen and no Votto but oh well. Good to see Frazier back in the lineup anyway.

Oh, well, except for Votto being out, this is a very good defensive ballclub tonight.

Not sure why Ludwick is sitting, he's hit lefties better than Heisey. I guess Chris is "hot" coming off a good game last night except for his last at bat.

Diamondbacks lineup:

Drew SS
Bloomquist 3B

I was going to celebrate the lack of Goldschmidt, but then I remembered that Overbay has always killed us and is 5 for 8 career against Arroyo.

Five lefty bats for DBacks including the pitcher. The usual way to try and beat Arroyo.

Drew singled on a line drive to RF.
Bloomquist singled on a bouncing ball through the left side of the infield.
Hill singled on a soft line drive that fell in front of Stubbs.

Bases loaded, no out.

1-2-3. Jay with the patented roll out to the right side. Down to .246 and still dropping along with his OBP.

Disagree entirely. The ground ball out by Bruce is NOT patented. Not at all.

Jay only has one patent. It's called the GABP upper cut swing resulting in a pop up to medium right field.

Now THAT is patented.

Two moves that need made that have nothing to do with Votto:

1. Hoover switches places with Ondrusek permanently.

2. Donnie Joseph up and Bray down.

Logan is a very serviceable reliever.

Ondrusek is going nowhere. Bray may go but who cares.

Right now, the pitching isn't worth one bit of worry.

This is a team with one lefty offensive bat, that hitter is in (another) deep slump, and they face a month without their best hitter. That's worth some worry.

And Ondrusek is throwing great tonight, for whatever reason.

But...just a base hit from impossible.

Can Votto PH one last time before the surgery?

Upton with the infield single. First and third with two out and Reds killer Overbay up.

Geez. First two batters, Logan looked the best he has in awhile. Now it gets interesting.

Haven't caught a lot of tonight game, just checked out the box score.

Alfredo Simon is my hero.

Logan allows 2 hits and strikes out 3. This is a strange game for sure. Reds sure don't look like a team that just swept a series.

I just want someone to get on and make this interesting at the very least.

I was thinking about a letdown earlier today. Yikes.

Heisey suddenly up to .281.

Color me not impressed with Putz's stuff. Reminds me of us holding onto Cordero as "closer."

I know "people" like Hanigan, I kind of view him as the Ryan Freel with catchers gear. No where near as good as the public perception is.

He was a very solid backup catcher. Much like Freel, good off the bench. The more AB's he gets the more anxious I am to see what Meseraco can do.

I wouldn't go that far. Hanigan is good, but he's just not a guy who should be playing everyday. Granted that's how I felt about Freel, but I think Hanigan is better overall than Freel anyway.

I would walk Ludwick with Stubbs up next.

Vottomatic
07-16-2012, 10:10 PM
Hopefully Ludwick gets on. Then a passed ball puts them on second and third. Then the next batter should point to LF and then lay down a bunt and leg it out.

Oops. Saw that in a movie once. (Major League)

Really lost the game in the first inning. Four or five runs kill this team. And with Votto out, I don't expect it to get any better.

Bullpen pitched six scoreless innings. We need offense.

Logan is a very serviceable reliever.

He is below replacement level. Hardly serviceable.

Hoover would be an obvious upgrade. Same with Joseph over Bray.
