One of the most solid contributors to Houston's success at home as been rookie right-hander Lucas Harrell.

Harrell ranks first in the NL and fourth in the Majors in innings pitched as a rookie, tossing 114.2 so far this season while posting a 7-7 record and 4.24 ERA

In seven starts at home this year, Harrell is 5-1 with a 1.99 ERA. He is coming off one of his best outings of the season Thursday, despite receiving a loss.

Harrell tossed seven innings, allowing just one run and four hits, but fell victim of a one-hitter tossed by the Padres' Edinson Volquez.

The Reds beat young Mr. Harrell in Cincinnati back in April 6-0. Phillips and Bruce each had two hits Bruce's being a 2r HR and a double.

Prob a decent idea to get the guy at bats, but I hate to see Ludwick with how he has been swinging given the day off.

I have no problem getting Paul a start, though I'd prefer it in center; but has Frazier really not earned himself a spot in the order above Xavier Paul? Really?

Mr. Harrell has allowed an OPS against of .791 to lefty hitters in his career. .693 against righties. Thus, Xavier Paul.

Ths split, however, is much less pronounced for 2012.

My first reaction was, "Paul who?"

Janish?
Wilson?
O'Neill?
Householder?
Derringer?
Lynde? (No, he would be in the center square.)

RedlegJake
07-24-2012, 07:10 PM
He's batting Frazier 7th behind Paul and Rolen? My gosh. Rolen okay maybe I can go with that (I think its nuts) but Paul? Why? Paul has zero hits and 1 walk so far. Yeah I know only a few appearances but still his ML history says he is not a good hitter...I do not understand the Dust man sometimes:confused:

PS - I certanly hope Paul goes 4-4 and makes my griping look stupid!!

sorry when I posted the lineup I blanked on Paul's first name. Oliver was all that came to mind but I knew that was wrong.

Reds will make a deal.

The need is too clear, too specific. Team is in first place of tough race, I'd be surprised if Walt sat still.

Not like some years where there is just a general need to improve. Walt needs a lefty hitter who gets on base to platoon. Even a good bench player will help. Don't see him sitting by this time.

Leake battles, I'll say that. He looks to me like he's about to get hammered and then he gets a strike out and a come backer and gets out ofthe inning. I like the kid.

He's nowhere near Maddux, but that was his trademark style. Probably led the world in foul balls that were scorched....simply because he always had hitters just far enough off with his continual changing of speeds.

I feel like Leake has actually looked better than Harrell tonight, but obviously that doesn't count for much.

Counts as much as anyone Tom. Leake just doesn't overpower people and looks shaky at times but he always seems to get guys out in the end.

Stubbs slash line since July 1: .182/.217/.288/.505

That's not what I call "improvement".

Dusty moved him to leadoff and kinda called him out on July 16th (the beginning of the Diamondback series). Since then he's gone 10 for 30 with 4 walks and 4 k's. He's worked the count better, fouled off pitches better, and just looked better at the dish overall. Just coincidence....could be, but he seems better IMO.

That's what I don't get at all. He had his best game in seemingly weeks when moved back to 2nd, so after that he gets moved back to leadoff.

When a guy gets hot in the two hole, Dusty thinks he's found his lead off hitter.

So that two hole guy, he gets moved to lead off to give the Reds the OBP lead off man they have needed.

Except that when he moves to lead off, he stops hitting.

Solution: Cross out the number one on the lineup card. Substitute 2A and 2B.
Then hit Stubbs and Cozart in any order Dusty wants.
