Cairo instead of Frazier? WTH?
Frazier did scuffle a bit yesterday at 0-5 with 3 K's. Really, with the Reds 21 games over .500 I'm willing to give Dusty any benefit of the doubt.

Kc61
07-30-2012, 05:08 PM
Probably wants to keep Frazier away from Volquez who has nasty stuff and little control. Dusty wants the vet against V. That's my guess, not endorsing it.

I never saw a reason for the arm wrap Frazier's been wearing. Did he get beaned recently, and I missed it?

kaldaniels
07-30-2012, 05:42 PM
If the Reds were out of contention, as an experiment I'd love to see the results of them going up to the plate and not lifting the bat off their shoulders with EV on the mound.

On a related note, I'd also like to see Josh Hamilton flip a coin before each AB...if he miscalls it, he does not swing that AB. That might be enough to make pitchers start pitching him more honest.

Just freestyle thoughts off the top of my mind...don't hold it against me.

Maybe it's to cover up a Padres tat? Thus the benching?

Stubbs lines a homer into the right field seats. That ball is not out at Petco . . . just saying, no way

So you're saying there's a short porch at the GAB and the ball flies out more often than at Petco? Genius.

Really. These are human beings playing, not figures on a computer screen or stats on the back of a bubblegum card (dating myself?). They're prone to the same frailties that you and I are, they're going to make mistakes and have bad days and all that. It happens. Leake will return and do better sometime in the near future.

Devin was just gesturing with his hand and the ump moved into it. That's cheap.

It is cheap and I don't agree with it but if they write it up as he bumped him he will get a game or two suspension.

Crowd giving the Bronx cheer to the ump when he calls a strike. I love it.

This is all ok, if they lose, the streak had to end soon anyway.

And you don't want a long streak going when the Bucs series happens this weekend. Don't need the pressure of a streak.

Mes may lose a few games on a suspension, but he doesn't catch that much anyway.

This is all ok.

Still bull. Ump walked into his point then got overly upset. Toss him, fine for arguing balls. Not a suspension. Doesn't matter as he only catches 2 pitchers, but still probably a raw deal. Either way, I LOVE it. Mes shoots way up in my book.

Manager has to decide whether to constantly warm guys up in a game like this. Dusty opted to give Simon that inning even though he was in trouble. I can respect that decision.

He has four with the Pads followed by three with the Bucs, there's a real price to using up the pen this early.

If Simon doesn't have it as we continue, I agree, you can't just leave him out there forever. But that inning, I would have done what Dusty did.

If the league is smart, they'll give Mes four games just to have an impact.
