Key for tonight is that Marshall pitched two innings last night. Likely out.

So if Reds need relief, aside from Chapman, most likely guys are Ondrusek and Broxton IMO.

It seems that way, although Dusty seems more comfortable not putting him there for one reason or another. But he'd make a great candidate for it, no doubt. It would allow Phillips to be moved to leadoff. That's a double-win.

Yeah, Arroyo's been playing with fire all night. Only a matter of time 'til he got burned.

Having said that, though, it seems like the Pads have had a lot of seeing-eye singles get through for base hits this series. Two of 'em that last inning plated both runs. I guess that's the risk you take when you don't miss a lot of bats.

Just HORRIBLE mechanics from Baker. I've seen him move his body AWAY from the ball numerous times and just reach for it. Completely the opposite of what he SHOULD be doing. If he gets any consistent playing time there's going to be a passed ball-fest in SD.

They looked bad the first rotation through after the AS break. Hopefully, they will get it out of their system and the offense can score a bunch of runs.

On the replay from the home plate camera the ump is looking right at the ball as it goes straight at and hits the ball boy. That's the only reason I think it was a big miss.

I actually thought that it missed him. I thought he got his leg up right before it hit the bottom of the wall along the stands. I didn't see the ball boy grimace, and I'm not sure it's possbile for the ball to bounce that far if it hit his leg and not the wall.

In terms of offense, Ludwick and Frazier have made this team. They both have done much better than expected and have really given the Reds depth beyond their usual two or three offensive players.

At any rate, the run would've scored anyway, so it ends up being a moot point.

I will concede it isn't that clear cut. I watched frame by frame in hi def and I see it hit him on the leg right above his ankle on his pants then it skips under and takes the wicked hop off the wall. Its all pretty moot as the result of the play probably would have been the same.

His right foot WAS....but his left was WAAAAY outside. That's all it takes isn't it?

~edit~ Found it. Yeah, just one foot out prior to the ball leaving the pitcher's hand...it's a balk.


Rule 4.03(a) states "The catcher shall station himself directly back of the plate. He may leave his position at any time to catch a pitch or make a play except that when the batter is being given an intentional base on balls, the catcher must stand with both feet within the lines of the catcher's box until the ball leaves the pitcher's hand. PENALTY: Balk."

I usually find that the whipping boy is overly whipped on RZ, but even I can't defend Miggy this year. He has had a good run for this team but the production is non existant this season. I can see him having value as a mentor and stuff, but you gotta do something when on the field.

I usually find that the whipping boy is overly whipped on RZ, but even I can't defend Miggy this year. He has had a good run for this team but the production is non existant this season. I can see him having value as a mentor and stuff, but you gotta do something when on the field.

Fortunately he really hasn't gotten enough playing time to really sink the team. The waste of a spot on the 25 man is the big issue.

Stubbs singles. He stayed alive fouling the 1-2 pitch and the 3-2 pitch.

Drew can do much damage to the opposition if he just makes contact, even just fouling it off with two strikes.
