Dioner getting the nod. I wonder how he is with the pitchers. Seems like our staff was setup good with each of the 2 catchers. I wonder how big a difference it will be with Navarro instead of Mes for a couple weeks.

08-04-2012, 05:25 PM
Mes should be out only one week because, as I recall, he was placed on the special seven day disabled list for concussions. Of course, he could then go on his three day suspension. In any event, he won't be out long.

Navarro is a veteran, I'm not too worried about him. He is a switch hitter, but lifetime, like most Reds, he does more damage against left handed pitching.

Reds are on a roll, I'm not too worried that Navarro will change that. Very confident in this team.

I think it could be that Brandon is ever so slightly not ready and since he is the one that would get retaliated against, Dusty pulled him. Let's see if he enters after the game commences... I hope it is only that!

Why not, he probably cursed out the umpire.

Pirates are reacting too emotionally over every HBP.

It's part of the game, nobody is hurt, McCutchen is still playing, Harrison isn't hurt, Leake couldn't break a pane of glass.

If they want to avoid warnings and ejections they should just stop acting out every time somebody gets hit with a pitch.

I think to an extent Hurdle realized once he was warned that he was not long for the game (seeing as an inside pitch by his team would now result in his ejection). I think he just wanted to prove a point.

Exactly. The warning game down because Harrison flipped his bat and stared down Leake, and Leake essentially responded in kind. Walk to first as the tying run like an adult.

It was an overreaction warning the benches and an even bigger one throwing CH out. The Pirates have done nothing here except gripe about getting plunked. The ump is warning the teams to let cooler heads prevail and then he blows up. Entire situation was needless.

You had to warn the benches after what Harrison and Leake were doing. Harrison left the ump no choice. The ump isn't stupid, he knows what happened last night. I really doubt any warnings are issued if Harrison doesn't act like a fool.
