What? Cairo and Valdez in the lineup? Sunday Special, Dusty :p

He's been playing Sunday Specials for a week now out of necessity, and they are 5-1.

In the grand scheme of things, today is an icing on the cake thing. While a sweep would be obviously awesome, the Reds have done so much heavy lifting that today is a must game for one team---and it isn't the one I root for.

To bring back the now immortal words of Orlando Cabrera, circa 2010, "you win when you can, not when you have to."

Not sure I wouldn't hit Hanigan sixth and bump Cairo and Valdez down a spot, but other than that I'm in full agreement for this lineup. Rolen has earned a day off, and Phillips shouldn't play until he's 100%.

KittyDuran wants to go but the seat she wants is wheelchair accessible only - she tried sounding pitiful to a Kroger employee to no avail! :( She could go to another Kroger & lie but would be kicked out of the ballpark... ) Well, she's onto GABP to try her luck there!

I have set in wheelchair accessible...if they don't sell them at some point, they are allowed to be bought by the general public.

Bring home a win, I have to go school shopping with the kids.

The first pick of the 2022 amateur draft went 3-3 with a walk from the lead-off position yesturday. His OBP is .780...crazy for a travel team. He pitched 5 innings and gave up 3 runs with NO WALKS...again crazy for 9u...Mustangs win..

I think the Pirates have a decent chance today, the Reds without Votto, Phillips, Rolen. Scott has been a hot batter and plays that stellar defense, Reds could miss him.

Still, if Homer does well, I'm confident the Reds will win. Cairo had a big night last night and maybe he'll be on a little roll and get a key hit or two.

Go Reds.

A few Bailey stats. Overall has not done well at GABP this year. 5.17 ERA, 79 hits allowed in 62.2 innings, .309 BAA, 1.56 WHIP.

However, much better over the last thirty days. 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.

Good trend for Homer.

Good thing Rolen isn't playing. Career .120 batting average vs. Burnett in 25 at-bats.

No one in the lineup has had more than 9 at-bats against Burnett. Not sure if that favors hitter or pitcher. Neither is familiar with eachother.

From a humorous standpoint, Homer is batting 1.000 against him with 1 hit in 1 at-bat.

Homer looks like he's having a hard time with his release point. He may be throwing strikes, but even the strikes aren't where they're intended to go. He's missing his spots with regularity.

The pitch choice on that Marte triple wasn't a problem...it was the execution and location. And it WAS out of the zone...just too high, and Marte likes them away. Away and down, it wouldn't have been a problem.

Bucs go home for an 11 game homestand. They are tough at home. But they play four with Arizona and four with the Dodgers. Also play three with Padres.

Hopefully the Bucs will not catch fire at home. Hopefully the good competition will hold its own against the Pirates.

Reds now play below .500 teams, but on the road, as we know.

Why? He added weight this off season, he's just passed his season high in innings pitched, and Cincy is in the middle of a heat-wave. Toss in the fact that we're in a pennant race and the pressure is much higher and every pitch is that more important, the stress level skyrockets.

All this talk about Bailey, injury, fatigue, all this speculation.

All I know is that if he doesn't throw a terrible pitch to Marte, this is a 2-2 ballgame and nobody is agonizing about Bailey.

Fact is that all pitchers, particularly in hot climates, probably fatigued by now and many ballplayers have nagging injuries. We know nothing to indicate that Homer has any meaningful physical problem.

He threw a terrible pitch. I find that annoying in a big game like this, but he's just as likely to throw a good game against the Cubs next time. I chalk it up to an instance of bad pitching.

Ahead in the count, they should have made Marte chase the pitch. You're right, I don't know whether it was Homer, or Hanny, or some signal from the dugout, or what.
