Paul definitely extended his Reds run with his pinch hit RBI last night.

As for Ludwick, of course it's disappointing whenever he's not playing but obviously Dusty knows more about his overall health and effectiveness than we do.

Kc61

For whatever reason, Ludwick usually sits one game during each series. Dusty feels a need to rest him often, whether it's health, fatigue, whatever. Anyway, need a win tonight.

Well, he's been hitting tons with that routine.

Once Votto is back, I won't mind it to get Frazier/Rolen more AB's.

It's a matter of degree. I watch on EI and get a lot of road announcers. Also see the Reds announcers a lot.

Most of them try to be reasonably objective, and do get excited at key moments.

No but I think many of us were worried about the offense even during that streak. I understand it might not have been worth the price to make a big upgrade at the deadline but the glaring holes this team had April-Mid July are still there now.

Problem is that the Pirates have had unbelievable pitching at home. They are facing good competition this homestand, at least the four game series v. DBacks and Dodgers, but they are very tough at home.

Reds are on the road at the same time.

Ludwick can't be a hero EVERY time. K's.

3-1 Milwaukee to the bottom of 8.

that was ball 3...to aggressive...trying to hit a homerun instead of extending the inning.

He swung at two pitches he could never hit. Hack and duck.

I think they try and pitch Ludwick in that spot. They climb the ladder with him and sometimes he goes for that high one and misses it.

Ludwick needs to have the same approach as Votto and Phillips has with 2 strikes...shorten your swing, put the ball in play.

ludwick's swing does not change.....PULL, PULL, PULL.

yes...

bosten lost 3 in a row in the ALCS and came back to bet the yankees in 7.

Browning pitched a perfect game against the Dodgers and they won the world series a month later.

Just for some perspective, the 1990 "Wire to Wire" team had an eight game losing streak, two 5 game losing streaks and five 3 game losing streaks. So nearly half of their 71 losses were in those eight losing streaks. Of course, starting the season 9-0 never hurts.

Even the 1927 Yankees lost four in a row and three in a row in another streak.

I was at Candlestick Park on a Sunday afternoon in late July 1990 when the Giants completed a four game sweep of the Reds. Scott Garrelts had a 8-2/3 inning no hitter that was broken up by Paul O'Neill (I think.) At the time, I was convinced that the team would eventually fade out of first place.
