Reds hacking away so far. Ludwick with a one pitch out, like Cozart.
Frazier lines the first pitch to center for a single though.
Heisey flies out to right.

With Votto out, this team has no one that goes up there and gives a professional at-bat each time. Reds are hackin' at the first pitch almost always.

Sometimes I watch this team play and I wonder how in the world they are in first place.
I think the lack of Rolen really exploits the team's hitting weakness. It's hard to win with Cozart, Stubbs, and Valdez/Cairo getting so many at-bats per game.

Tom Servo

I was thinking the same thing. Made NO sense. Neither did letting Wood hit against Bronson with 3 lefties sitting on your bench, then removing Wood before he has a chance to pitch. Not Sveum's greatest game managing. Redszone would be in full-blown seizure mode if Dusty made those series of moves.

I can at least understand Wood hitting, as he's a pretty good hitting pitcher. But if you're gonna yank him, why give Stubbs and Phillips a chance to bust out when they're so good against LHP? It was definitely not Dale's best day.

Normally, I would agree with letting Wood hit. But Bronson REALLY struggles against lefties, and even though Wood is a good-hitting pitcher, a guy like Bronson is probably hard to handle for a pitcher, especially a righty. With two outs and nobody on it's really kind of nitpicking, probably doesn't make a difference regardless. Still kind of silly though.

I'm using my computer to watch, so I can't post during the play.

But I was amazed that Russell was brought in to pitch there.

Reds have an all righty lineup today with no Bruce, no Paul, no Votto.

Tomorrow, a lefty faces them. Wood today, a lefty.

Unbelievable that he brought in Russell, a lefty, and stuck with him.

Let's hope the Reds' lefty, Chapman, ends this quickly in the Reds favor.
