I predict an ugly night for Travis Wood. Just saw him last Saturday, and will likely not pitch his best game of the year tonight. And, we might need it with Arroyo on the hill.

Well to be the contrarian, Travis did pretty well for four innings. I expect anohter dogfight with Bronson on the mound. If we get good Bronson, we're good. If not, just like last night, we struggle. Hope for the best.

Hope for the best.My prediction is based on the fact he pitched well last week. It is very common to get lit up second time through when you face a team back to back. Same could go for Arroyo too, but he wasn't pitching as well as Wood was last time.

Just throwing it out there for those considering who to put their sawbuck on tonight. :)

So it's set, Redmond will start the second game of the DH. Fay posted a small article about this. This one line just caught my eye. I love this.

Redmond was in the clubhouse Friday, which happened to be team picture day.
“He asked me if it was all right to be in the picture,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “I said, ‘Yeah, you’re on the team.’ You’re just not going to stay very long.”

That's totally got a little kid feel to it. "I'm actually in a big league clubhouse. Nobody's gonna believe me. Hey! Can I be in the picture too?!?" :O)

I'll guess five; Three for the Reds, two for the Cubs.

LeCure is an injury that DOES happen every year. In the minors and the majors, he tends to miss some time every year.

This time, it sounds like he dodged the bullet and is ready.

As for Brox, he looked good his first couple times out for the Reds, then looked bad. Don't know what his story is.

I don't think Broxton even warmed up too much too many times a week in KC - they had a lot of long losing streaks remember where a closer doesn't even sniff action - here he was warming up nearly every day. Add to that its getting later in the season after surgery. Probably a combination. I'm less worried about him if they give him some rest.

Reds 7th:

Stiubbs grounds out to third on the 1st pitch.
Phillips grounds out to thrid.
Ludwick singles off the wall inleft, Soriano throws him out at 2nd.

I'm not really one to declare guys 'punks' but it was definitely a move of questionable integrity, and definitely lacking in intelligence. The thing that gets me is that Bruce is a former teammate.

2nd pitch right after a dinger, fastball right in the ribs. I'm sure it's possible it was just a bad pitch...but if it was, that's some pretty crummy timing for it.

The thing I'm wanting to go back and look at is whether or not Ludwick did anything to show up Wood on his HR trot or something. Anybody notice anything out of the ordinary?

~edit~ Just went back and re-looked at it, I sure didn't see anything "hot dog'ish" about anything. Either just a bad pitch, or an intentional plunking. Regardless of which it was, the Reds responded EXACTLY they way they should. On the scoreboard.

Oh dear god, a George Grande and Jeff Brantley announce duo.Lol. Hey at least it isn't Brantley on the radio. I seldom have to listen to the radio broadcast, but he is clearly the worst play by play announcer I have ever listened to. Our local guys do high school basketball better than he describes a ball game. Its a travesty. I never know if something good or bad has just happened. At least on TV, you can see the play, on radio, you're dependent on a Forrest Gump call of each play.
