I don't know about this lineup. Seems like we are raising the white flag on this game. No Ludwick or Frazier. Go getem Leake.

1. Zack Cozart (R) SS (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=cozarza01&year=Career&t=b)

Guessing Dusty doesn't want Frazier, a rookie, to have to cope with Halladay. Rather he's giving Todd a needed rest. Cairo hit well this weekend he'd rather give the veteran a chance against Halladay.

(Cozart, also a rookie, rested one game this weekend, he's in for defense with Leake pitching.)

Not agreeing, just guessing Dusty's thought process on Frazier.

Similarly, I think Dusty is resting Stubbs as unlikely to hit Halladay. As for Ludwick, Dusty rests him often and XMan gets a shot as a reward for the big hit yesterday.

As far as I can try to read the manager's mind. . . .

*Miguel Cairo is 5-for-15 lifetime vs. Halladay, Xavier Paul is 2-for-5 and Chris Heisey is 0-for-1, while Drew Stubbs is 3-for-12 and Todd Frazier is 0-for-1. I’m sure the matchups play a part in the manager’s decisions to feature the lineup.

Should be a nice strong bench tonight.

I certainly think Dusty has factored in the need for rest with playing pitcher/hitter percentages.

But to me, it just comes down to the Zen of Dusty. And with the Reds record in 2012, I will defer any lineup criticism at this point.

oh well, at least Rolen is playing.. I thought he'd get the day off today.

The nice thing about getting Votto back is that Frasier can go back to starting on a lot of these "rest days", as opposed to Cairo/Paul/Heisey.

Not complaining about the lineup.. a little disappointed, but I accept it :)

It happens an awful lot with the trio of Stubbs, Bruce and Heisey. It gets tired after a while. A mistake like that in the playoffs against an elite pitcher will kill you.

As best I can gather, Berry held up the stop sign for Bruce or Phillips. Heisey thought it meant for him to stop so he held up at 3rd. Berry then basically pushed him towards home, at which point it was too late and he was out by a mile.

Whose fault that is, I'm not sure. But that type of miscommunication is inexcusable at the major (or minor) league level.

Have to wonder the thought process there. Two outs, nobody on, Ryan Howard up. Can't quite understand why you give him a hittable pitch.

If you walk Howard, you have Mayberry up.

Not saying you intentionally walk him, but keep it off the plate.

I've seen it all year, pitchers seemingly afraid to walk guys and grooving pitches against obvious home run hitters when unnecessary.

Have to say that I think Leake has pitched very poorly tonight.

I'm a fan, and he's only allowed three, but all three runs were preventable.

All three runs with two outs. Two knocked in by Ryan Howard with Mayberry on deck. Why give hittable pitches to Howard with Mayberry on deck and two outs?

Then he allows a homer to Kratz. Eighth hitter, Halladay on deck.

Why throw a gopher ball to Kratz when the pitcher is up next, two outs, nobody on?

I assume this is just a lack of command by Leake, but when you pitch like Leake, you need to have command or you shouldn't be in the rotation.

I've been a fan of Leake, but very poor pitching tonight.
