Boy if we could just get Votto, Ludwick, and Bruce all going at 100% at the same time...

we better, at least one of them or it will be a short October.

Yep. I'd sure like a pinch runner. I'd hate for Joey to get hurt trying to score from 2nd, or to be held at 3rd to protect him.

He either still has pain or he's not past the mental aspect of sliding. Dusty said that was the hardest part. To trust it.

Those were the most annoying thing I have ever heard at a sporting event. The other bad one was when the Angels fans had those thunder sticks when they were in the World Series.

The good thing is that Dusty trusts you when you prove yourself, so Hoover should likely get more and more high-leverage opportunities going forward.

A perfect example of what Dave Cameron was referring to when he said to project a team's record based on their talent level.

Step back, does anyone think this Pirate team with the roster as is, is an 88-90 win team most seasons? They were pesky but I never could take their roster that seriously...no offense intended, and as always I will note they are headed in the right direction.

Disclaimer - I'm not too concerned with trying to get the #1 playoff seed.

But I'd love for the Reds to give Villareal,Redmond,& Cingrani some starts over the next few weeks to let the regular guys get a little extra rest. They have that luxury....do it!

yep, exactly right. 162 games has a habit of doing that to a team.

whoever loses this game gets swept...just a gut feeling.

Yeah, but I got the feeling when you said in the game thread that it was with a gut feeling that it would be the Pirates that would sweep (it was after Ludwick missed an opportunity to win it in the B10)...;)

From the Elias Sports Bureau's daily blog (where they highlight various events from the previous day's games - I'm going to have to start looking at that):

From Elias: Homer Bailey improved his career record against the Pirates to 7-2 in 11 starts with his fine performance. Only one pitcher has more wins against Pittsburgh than Bailey since 2009, the year of his first win against the Bucs: Johnny Cueto (10-3).

BTW, here's the link from ESPN for their "Elias Says" blog http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/elias

That's fine but I also don't know why Didi isn't getting any starts at SS. Why do we have to see Valdez at the top of the limeup day after day?
