I'm pleasantly surprised with Frazier in the lineup. Rather shocked that Navarro is in there. The only thing I know is Dusty must want as many leftys as possible in the lineup or Hanigan and Leake just don't get along with each other. :)

Dusty said he's treating it like a day-game-after-night-game scenario, thus Frazier and Navarro. Navarro does have higher slugging (2 HRs) this year against LHP than RHP.

Yeah, I'm nervous too. I noticed at the game last night though that I wasn't nearly as nervous being there in person as I am watching on TV.

You can criticize the use of Frazier at third base with a ground ball pitcher going, true.

On the other hand, from a power perspective, Frazier and Navarro are more likely to hit a long ball than Rolen or Hanigan right now.

Scott Rolen had 10 errors in 87 games this year in the regular season. He has 2 in 3 postseason games. He really doesn't do anything well at this point in his career.

Perhaps the little bit of juggling will provide the heroes for the clinching game. I see putting our best offensive lineup out there, except for Stubbs over Heisey. Dusty figuring the need for runs is more important than the couple of ground balls hit to third. When it gets late, you can bring in Rolen and hope he doesn't get in no man's land on a short hop again.

Not sure how you define "well", but Rolen was a key contributor to the Reds winning the division this year. Despite a horrendous starting and being injured, he ended up being a league average 3B during the time he played

I checked Zito versus our guys and Stubbs has done quite well against Zito. I didn't jot down the entire line, but Stubbs has batted .385 against him in his career. Others? Phillips .421, Bruce .357, Frazier .600. I envision Leake knocking a home run today.

We were backed up starting at Exit 17 all the way until Exit 5 - not because of a wreck, gridlock, or anything that would warrant it. Everybody and their brother is so scared of the lane separation at mile marker 5 that they cut across the middle lane like crazy just to avoid it. A 12 mile backup over something that stupid - it was unreal.

I would prefer Hannigan starting, but Dioneer has pop. I think Rolen could use the day, just in case there is a game 5 tomorrow, and Frazier is no slouch himself.

My prediction- Reds win 7-6 in walk off fashion off the bat of pinch hitter Miguel Cairo. (sidenote if that happens exactly as called, I deserve this post to be stickied and placed in the archives after everyone has had the opportunity to gawk at my prediction prowess)

Seeing if the "odd-man out" Leake can step up to the proverbial plate and become a post-season hero. Storylines like that are what makes this a great game...it would be boring if stuff like this didn't pop up from time to time. Can't wait for it to start. :beerme:

Dioner has been catching Leake's games lately so him being in the lineup doesn't surprise me too much. Here's what's going to happen -- the deeper the game goes, the more the pressure is going to build on the Reds. They're human, they can sense they're choking this whole thing away. They know Latos hasn't been feeling well, and they know Matt Cain is one of the best pitchers in baseball. They don't want this to go to a Game 5, where the chokejob can be complete and they'll be eliminated.

So they'll start to press.
