It's Wednesday morning at 9am now. They didn't offer to reschedule it, I asked them to.
With the way things are going around here, who knows if I'll be able to make that one either. Say more snow tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday morning now. Really tired of snow. :thumbdown
Just got back in -- the roads around town are still in abysmal shape (even the interstates are a mess -- 275 looks untouched). Unless they work a road-crew miracle in the next 6 hours, the commute tomorrow is going to be a nightmare.
Spent a lovely 1.5 hours last night snowblowing the driveway, shoveling the walk, dragging the snowblower to the side and back porch and cleaning off car. When I peeked out this morning I see that it had kept snowing and erased much of what I did.
It didn't help that Mrs. Ltlabner wrecked the snowblower the one time she decided to use it and now it isn't working correctly. She had offered to snowblow once since I'd done it every other time and I begged her not to. In her effort to be nice she once again destroys something I need to use. Ugh.
Yea. Done with snow.
Went skiing at Perfect North Sunday. Best conditions I've seen there in twenty years. Just needed to post an upside to all this.
Flowers blooming here, daffodils, crocus, violets.. crazy early too.
Braggarts lol
Your company is not being real generous there. First of all Hamilton County rarely goes to a level 3 and if they do you can't drive to work by law unless your job relates to emergency personnel.
I generally keep my staff at home if it's a level two, today being an exception. Why are counties still at a level two today?
I guess it all depends what you consider "generous" -- my office only closes on a level 3 snow emergency as well.
We get sent home early to beat bad weather occasionally, but in terms of actually canceling work, it's never happened in the 3+ years I've been here. Either be here, or be willing to take a vacation day.
Or be willing to make the time up... :(
Me and another co-worker, who also lives about 30 miles away, left at 2:30pm yesterday. That morning I got to work at 7:30am, took a lunch so I only worked 6 hours. So it will be two more 7:30am arrivals (w/o taking a lunch today), then Thursday and Friday will be regular days. Gotta do what you have to do to get to 40 hours! ;)
BTW, IIRC, Hamilton County has gone to Level 3 once since I've been working there. It was the same day that Butler County went to Level 3 as well. Didn't make any difference to me - I left home early - so I was already at work when it was called. :p:
Ahhh, regardless of this snow, spring is not too far around the corner. Pitchers and catchers report soon. Always a harbinger.
I was just sent this. It would've been better a few days ago but what the heck.
To anyone who does or has ever lived in Ohio
"It's winter in Ohio
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 25 below!
Oh, how I love Ohio . When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Ohio
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground."

I really don't mind snow that much but it's still nice to see that Spring is finally around the corner.
