The bullpen is hurt and bad. The worst bullpen in baseball.
The best player on the team just went on the IL.
The team's rd is -32 (only 2 teams in NL are worse)
They are in last place in division
so on and so forth
It is not that the sky is falling, people are just being realistic. Rightfully so.
With all of that, they are 2 games above, and would be tied for first in the AL West.

Votto was out for around 50 games in 2012, and the Reds won 97 games

Yet they are in the NL Central, so where they would be in the AL West really doesn't mean anything.

OK, but Hunter, Elly, Pagan, and Lowder area all on the IL and the Reds probably aren't going to win 97 games this year.

They're 1 game out of a WC spot.
I have no idea how the rest of the season will go, but wanting to give up on this season on June 1 when you're 1 game out of it is ridiculous. I would genuinely question whether a person who took that position even enjoys watching baseball.

They did not have all of that for the entire season.
For example, Since May 1st they are 10-17.
They are not going to magically flip to what they did in April with everything that has accumulated.

Not saying give up now. I am saying it is time to PREPARE to sell. You simply cannot wait until 5 days before the deadline to figure out if you are going to buy or sell. Krall sucks, so that is probably exactly what he will do, though.

I'm not being snarky, I'm asking genuinely. What does prepare to sell mean?

I was wondering the same thing. Seems like something we’d rip Krall apart for if he said it out loud.

oh I don't know, call other teams instead of working on an extension for David Bell, for example.
Scout prospects on other teams
Ask other teams who is available ... and scout them.
See if other teams are interested in your guys
so on and so forth.

I can guarantee you that the Reds front office, like every other front office, is doing this everyday, regardless of the team’s situation.

Have you ever read a GM interview outside of a Reds Beat writer?
Listen to any Jason Stark podcast and you'll get a litany of things that simply parrot your list, with stories of leaving kids plays, dinners, weddings etc. ... they all do it, even Krall

You've got to buy stickers. Masking tape makes you look cheap. Get the multi-colored round ones.

Yes. Krall should probably call the print shop now and get signs made just to be prepared.
Re: Reds General Discussion 2026, Part 3
The number for the print shop is in Dan O'Brien's binder. Page 37. Look for the Red tab.
Re: Reds General Discussion 2026, Part 3
Once you prepare to give up, you have given up.

No, I do not. You are the only person on this website that follows MLB instead of just the Reds.
