You'll remember English musician , Chris Rea , for his '78 hit "Fool(If You Think It's Over)" and also for his 1986 festive holiday song "Driving Home For Christmas." Chris passed away after short illness, ironically, three days before Christmas. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the early 2000's and had a stroke in 2016. Great song in 1978. His breakthrough song was written for his little sister, who had broken up with her boyfriend. RIP Chris Rea.

Would it surprise you to learn that Sir Elton John didn't have a single solo #1 hit in the UK spanning the entire decades of the 70's and 80's? That's right, Elton didn't have a solo #1 chart topper in his home country in either the 70's or the 80's. That's pretty wild , since Elton pretty much owned the 70's here in America. Can you even think about seventies music here in the US without thinking of Elton John? He had several chart-toppers here but no solo #1's in Britain in those decades.
With all that said, can you name Elton's first solo #1 in the UK?

Were you folks music video watchers back in the early days of MTV? I had them on all the time while I was piddling around the house back in the early 80's. One that I remember being on heavy rotation back in those early days of music videos featured a glam metal band, whose roots date all the way back to Hollywood in 1973 and a band called Firedome. The band's signature song stormed up the charts in 1984, in large part, due to the band's cheeky and humorous video, which featured legendary comedian, Milton Berle. I bet I saw this video five or six times a day when this song came out.
How did "Uncle Milty" end up playing a cross-dressing husband and wife in a glam metal band's video? Well, he really was being a good Uncle Milty. He was the uncle of the band's manager, Marshall Berle. Milton did the video as a favor to his nephew. It was weird, at first, seeing Milton Berle in a hard rock video, but the more I thought about it, it made perfect sense and made the video very memorable.
Berle was a hoot. He was up for anything he thought would be funny. I think he was the first man I ever saw on TV dressed like a woman. Despite being an older comedian, he always seemed to be very hip , which younger audiences appreciated. I doubt if this band would be remembered by very many people had it not been for this video and this massive hit song.
