I got no problem with that. Leaving aside whether the team can or cannot afford more payroll I was assuming in a cap/floor world that the numbers would be such that Philly would have to cut payroll and the Reds would have to increase it. Such a world would have likely changed Kyle's attitude in assessing which team would surround him with more talentQuote:

Having Profar gone from the payroll ($15 million in 2026) means they can definitely take on salary if they need to deal for a bat. My guess is they instead opt to put that money towards any pitching that comes available, especially if they stay in the race until Kim comes back at SS later in the spring.
Edit: And they are going out on their own a la the Texas Rangers and taking game broadcasts in house for 2026. There’s a huge fan base but the tv/streaming money is never going to materialize in Year 1 if they raise the white flag before the season starts.
