This tells me that they don't really know what they're talking about. I would be open to selling high on Friedl if the Reds had someone else who could play CF. So if the sign Bellinger sure go ahead and trade TJ for SP, but if not the IF depth and maybe Fraley are the areas I see the Reds dealing from.

My take as well. The author of this has a huge man-crush on Friedl and seems to be overvaluing him. Maybe another GM does as well? Trading Friedl for a young starter with multiple years of control seems like an solid move if the Reds can pull it off

MLB Traderumors reports Bauer's agent is meeting with MLB teams.
He wasn't found guilty, and presented strong evidence he was being set up. But he still presents a PR problem for teams.
He served his suspension. Pitched well in Japan. I wonder about a reunion on a discounted 1 or 2 yr deal with some kind of stiff requirements/limits about social media presence and maybe some requirements for community involvement (i.e. he can't make the PR problem worse for the team or the deal is off, and he has to do things to help turn around his image). I'm assuming the Phillies or someone will outbid the Reds for Sonny Gray, Giolito, Nola, etc. Kind of like the thought of a Bauer discount if he can convince Krall that he won't be a PR problem.

I think any bad publicity he got from punching an unconscious woman during sex will be outweighed by how him punching an unconscious woman during sex has made him a hero for a certain segment of the sports fan population. Sign him now.

I gotta think the RedsZone computers would melt down completely due to the resulting discussion if he did re-sign with the Reds.

In other news...
Phillies could be open to trading one of their core stars
Quote:
According to a source, the Phillies are open to the idea of trading Nick Castellanos, whose streaky ways and disappointing performance in the NLCS could result in an offseason change.
Jorge Soler and Teoscar Hernández are among the right-field options on the free-agent market, so the Phillies could take the $20 million per year owed to Castellanos over the next three seasons to sign his replacement. Other players such as Boston’s Alex Verdugo could also be available in trades.
If I remember, he really didn't want to leave here.

I have no clue how truthful this rumor is, but if there is something to it, anything in the future related to Trevor Bauer and baseball belongs in this area as long as it centers on baseball. However, if you can't discuss Bauer without talking about the case that led to his absence from MLB, you have two options: 1). Sit the baseball discussion out and/or 2). Discuss anything non-baseball related in the opt-in Politics & Religion talk area. We're not going to allow the latter in this area.

Nick Castellanos is streaky?
Gosh... who'd have thunk?

I am having a tech issue where some of my earlier posts in this thread are glitching and not appearing but I had said earlier that I would approve of bringing Castellanos back. I enjoyed his time here.
