It is crazy that someone would want to spend $3.9B to buy a team in a sport that is so broken and full of teams that are losing money to hear them tell it.
This will play nicely for the players when it comes to negotiations this winter.

I expect an extended lockout

I think the prospective new owner realizes that if a cap comes in franchise values will rocket and their investment will see an immediate return.
He's a private equity guy and i'm sure that there have been many discussions with current owners re: the labor situation, promises may have been made.
I agree with GAC this lockout is going to the matresses.

Watching the Yankees-Royals game and saw that India isn't in the lineup. Looks like his playing time has definitely decreased, and with good reason.

On This Day in Dodgers History: Sandy Koufax Becomes First Pitcher With 3 Immaculate Innings
Quote:
On April 18, 1964, Los Angeles Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax tossed an immaculate inning against the Cincinnati Reds, becoming the first pitcher in National League history to accomplish the feat on three separate occasions.
As a refresher, an immaculate inning is when a pitcher strikes out all three batters faced on just nine pitches.
This is just one of many highlights for Koufax from a 12-year career with the Dodgers. He posted a lifetime record of 165-87 with a 2.76 ERA, beginning his career in Brooklyn.

I attended my first Reds game in 1963 when I was 9 years old.
The Reds and Joey Jay beat the Dodgers and Koufax 1-0.
I can just barely remember the game it's self but I'll never forget my first time inside Crosley Field.

Jake CronenworJake Cronenworth takes 96 mph fastball to the face, stays in the game as Padres rally to beat Angels
Quote:
San Diego Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth was struck in the face by a 96 mph fastball Saturday night against the Los Angeles Angels but remained in the game as the team rallied late for a 4-1 victory.
Cronenworth, who is already the Padres’ all-time hit-by-pitch leader, was struck in the chin during the fifth inning after a high pitch from Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The ball barely grazed Cronenworth on the shoulder before making contact with his chin.
"He’s a hockey player, and he didn’t lose any teeth," manager Craig Stammen said after the game, via MLB.com. "So he had to stay in the game. That was the rule.

I'm already picking over that carcass, thinking about who I might want to trade for.
MJ Melendez as a second catcher and part-time OF? Can he even still catch at all?

Might be time to revive the Luis Robert Jr. thread.
