I hardly pay attention to such statements anymore. Justin Lehr is very mature. Which one do you want to try to lead the Reds out of the wilderness?
BTW, I still think it is the team nickname and the C on the hat that sold him. It will make the transition so much easier ;)

Was Leake really a signability guy, though? IIRC, he was a top 10 guy.

Uh oh, Keith Law likes this move. He never agrees with anything the Reds do. This is premium material but this part was free:
Chapman deal Cincy's gain, MLB's blunder

Aroldis Chapman is an outstanding addition to an already-improving Cincinnati pipeline of young players, and sets them up to potentially have one of the NL's best rotations in 2012 if more than a few of their young arms develop as hoped.

What are we supposed to do in 2010 and 2011?

After so many downs, it's nice to have an up. As stated before, even if this moves fails it's a risk worth taking and the kind of move this organization needs to make in order for fans to get interested ($$$$). If only they would make Baker go far far away

And it seems that the Rolen restructure may have been related to this move to fit the current money into the budget.

John Smiley was a pretty big signing after the 92 season.
Francisco Cordero wasn't an insignificant signing, either.

Don't forget about the Milton signing (although I bet all of us wish we could).

Cordero was the richest.
Most people on RZ were in favor of the Milton signing.
Did the Reds ever sign Kevin Mitchell?
How about Ron Gant?
