After passing on the name "Big Nardo in the Eighth Grade , " because that name would have been too long to fit on an album cover, they decided to name the band after a milk-spurting strap-on dildo that is referenced in William S Burroughs' groundbreaking 1959 satirical novel "Naked Lunch." The dildo's name appears in a movie within the book.

So, yeah, what 70's band took its name from a rubber dick ?

Carpenter was 18 here. The solo is at the end of the song. Karen was more of a jazz drummer, not a booming rock drummer, like Bonham. Apples and oranges. Karen might not have banged out a Zeppelin number like Bonham , but John couldn't drum with the technical precision that Karen displayed. Buddy Rich said his favorite drummer was... Karen Carpenter. You can see a lot of Rich in Karen's playing. Karen always saw herself as a drummer, first , and a singer, second.

I was thinking that, as well ! I've done a a little drumming(pretty poorly, I might add) and I can't image how much more drumming, while singing, ramps up the level of diifficulty.

The song lyrics speak to his fear of her infidelity and the title refers both to the time of night she goes out to a party to potentially cheat and also the nickname for the man/ men that might be involved. Btw, the Cathy Smith story didn't end with this song. She was linked to the drug overdose of comedian , John Belushi, some eight years after the song's release, adding an even darker layer to the history of the song.

I saw Fleetwood Mac on this '97 tour. I read that there was one show during this tour in which Nicks completely froze up on this song, and with her back to the crowd, began sobbing uncontrollably. She had to be escorted off stage , with Buckingham singing the last verse of the song. The emotions were real with this one.

Speaking of frozen love , if you've never heard the Buckingham-Nicks song, "Frozen Love," do yourself a favor and listen to it. It's fantastic! The whole Buckingham-Nicks album is amazing.
