This is like signing a number one draft choice anyway.

You can bet by the time he finishes his career in Cincinnati, he will.
Well then he probably doesn't know who Armando Marsans is either.

Chapman's deal with the #Reds will be $30.25 mil guaranteed, spread over 10 years. Lots of incentives, could be worth much more

Chapman's agent pointed out that 10 of the 40 players on the Reds roster speaks Spanish, along with Dusty Baker and Bryan Price, and that's one of the biggest reasons he signed with the Reds. He also said Chapman plans on learning to speak English as soon as possible.
However after seeing South Park's episode on Chipolte he has no plans on eating there.

I for one hope it costs the Reds much more than the 30.25 million--I hope he hits every incentive there is.

I gotta say this sure beats spending a ton of money on some guy in his 30's on the down hill slide. :)

did Christmas just happen twice? I'm just still in a state of shock that the Reds could make this move.

I'm now seeing the deal reported as six years, $30 million. Does that mean the sixth year isn't an option year?

The Reds announced on Monday that they had signed Chapman to a six-year contract, a deal worth $30 million according to Major League sources.
"This is a very significant signing and an exciting move in the right direction," Reds president of baseball operations and general manager Walt Jocketty said. "We're building an organization that is going to be competitive in the long term. With the caliber of young talent like Chapman, Edinson Volquez, Johnny Cueto, Homer Bailey and Mike Leake to complement veterans Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang, we're very excited about the potential of our starting rotation."
