Re: Jeff Passan: Reds sign Cuban lefty Aroldis Chapman to six-year deal (Financials T
Any word on if he's going to be pitching in Spring Training?

Nope. I do too. I don't care what anyone calls me.
Unless it's yellow. Nobody, but NOBODY calls me yellow.

It sounds like Walt is gonna give him a shot to make the 5th spot in Spring Training. We shall see.

That certainly LOOKS to be a closer number.

Hopefully lightning will crack a tree open in his yard and allow him to build a wonderful new bat out of the exposed wood too.

Reds play 162 games, 4 at-bats a game...He'll hit 6480 home runs.

Good stuff!

I think if he pitches well in the spring he has a legitimate shot at cracking the rotation on Opening Day.
Harang
Arroyo
Cueto
Bailey
Chapman
I know a lot can change between now and Opening Day with trades and injuries but if thats the rotation, I think we'll be in good shape. Just when I swore I wouldn't be excited about the 2010 season.. they suck me back in. Damn it.

He's a closer now? Also, what's this about him living in Pandora? That can't end well.

When was the last time we had a group like this fighting it out for the 5th starter spot?
Wood, Leake, Chapman, Maloney, Owings & Lehr. :O)

Yes, unless he proves he's ready during ST.
No need to rush him to the show, IMO. If he continues to have control issues in ST like he's had during his career, then start him in maybe AA and let him work his way up to AAA. I have a feeling he'll be in our rotation no later than a September callup in 2011. Isn't that ok?
