The Cards just spent $47 million for three starters for 2024. Gray is a TOR. Gibson is an innings eater who threw 192 last year with a FIP in the low 4s. Lynn had his struggles with the Chisox but he’s been a solid veteran for many years.
When the Reds make that kind of commitment to the 2024 rotation please let me know.

Some of you guys need to get out of the house.
At least get some food delivered, and eat it at the table away from the PC for a few hours.
But in all seriousness, this is the domain that the Reds have created for fans. I usually spend August and September far the hell away from baseball, but I got suckered by a .500 team. I’ll exit earlier this upcoming season I’m sure.

They’ve already spent in two weeks more than the Reds’ total payroll.

The Reds don’t need to make that kind of commitment because they have done a better job of developing talent. It’s also November 28th.
And right now, many Cardinal fans want to fire their GM because of these very moves that you mentioned. They aren’t wrong. The moves aren’t nearly enough considering the hole the Cardinals dug themselves.

Cardinal fans are spoiled imbeciles.

I had no intentions of calling anyone in particular out, but I swear your post count has gone up by a thousand in the last week. Most of the other 10,000 posts this week are in response to your posts. {I'm obviously making these post counts up FWIW} A week, in which the Reds have done nothing.
I'm not attacking, I'm just suggesting step back for a second - catch your breath.

One year does NOT make a trend. That dent is like a rock skipping down the road and hitting the car just before it gets totaled in a major accident.

I didn’t say a trend. I said a dent. And dent is always small and rather insignificant. I chose my words carefully and stand by them.

Is it a dent or is it an aberration? If you chose your words carefully, “aberration” is the better word.

The Reds haven’t won a playoff series in 28 years. They need to make that kind of commitment.

We don’t know yet. It’s only been one year. It could be an aberration. It could be the beginning of a trend. Most likely somewhere in between.

The Reds have been linked twice to adding $25M to this year’s payroll. They are definitely trying to make that kind of commitment. My guess is that they make at least that kind of commitment. The real question is if they are wise with that commitment.

I rescued a dog a few years back that had been abused for the first 8 years of her life. I spoiled her for her last years. Even after years of being treated well, every time anyone tried to pet her, she would flinch, assuming it was going to be painful.
It’s shameful how badly this ownership has treated its fans this past decade. I am guessing it will take at least a few years of good news before Reds fans stop flinching anytime there is any news about the Reds. Hopefully those few years of good news started last year.

Oh to be clear I am not buying the Reds are serious until they actually do something. However, I am going to push back on “Lance Lynn is actually a good signing” - he’s booty cheeks.

I adopted a dog who could accurately detect decades-long patterns. I spent all day arguing with him until he died by his own paw.
