58. This one goes out in remembrance of a fine musician who passed away, just three weeks ago. He charted 32 Top 75 singles in the UK , 14 of which reached the Top 40. His breakthrough hit , however, occurred in 1978, when he peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a song he wrote for his teen sister , who was going through her first romantic breakup at the time.(It's a damn good song!) The singer/songwriter sold 40 million records worldwide. RIP .....
Who's the singer and what was his 1978 breakthrough hit?
You'll remember English musician , Chris Rea , for his '78 hit "Fool(If You Think It's Over)" and also for his 1986 festive holiday song "Driving Home For Christmas." Chris passed away after short illness, ironically, three days before Christmas. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the early 2000's and had a stroke in 2016. Great song in 1978. His breakthrough song was written for his little sister, who had broken up with her boyfriend. RIP Chris Rea.
