Right, as though they look at his line now and go "Whep! You almost got me, Walt! He didn't hit any HRs in the last week, now you're getting nothin!"
Re: Royals interested in Bruce?
I find it hilarious posters think the Reds would get as much for a slumping Bruce than a streaking Bruce.

That's the thing. Most of us want to believe the return would be the same even if it isn't true.

Look, if his OPS is below .800 by the end of the month, it could affect the return a bit. But this whole thing about "He hit a HR, we have to trade him now!" is silly. These teams aren't going to be 'fooled' by one amazing week or one week of 0fers. There was no reason for anybody to think Bruce was going to continue to be a .900 OPS guy, and of course they weren't going to pay more earlier. They will look at the macro of Bruce's season and decide if they think Bruce is a worthwhile addition to their lineup.
I do get where you coming from, you never know with Bruce. But driving yourself crazy over his at-bats and insisting the deal needs to be done RIGHT NOW...dude, c'mon. He'll either be traded at the All-Star Break between Monday-Thursday next week, or the days leading up to/at the deadline.
Re: Royals interested in Bruce?
tbf, I didn't think it was inconceivable Jay had turned the corner on being a .900 OPS guy necessarily, given all the circumstances, lol.

Not inconceivable, but I expected regression to somewhere comfortably in the .800s range given his career norms. Remember when it looked like Frazier had turned a corner last year? I knew he wasn't a 1.000 OPS guy but I thought .900 wasn't out of the question. But nope, right back to career norms by the end of the year.

Yeah and he seems to have settled pretty comfortably in his usual ~.850 mark already. I'm guessing the OBP ends up around .320 by season's end, he mashes about 35 dongers when it's all said and done, and he has a pretty good season all things considered in the middle of what should be his prime.
Dammit, I'm gonna miss Jay. Dude's been here forever, I didn't realize how much I'd been taking him for granted as a Red.

Not sure why she would care.
But I'd walk through hell in a gasoline suit if Jennifer Lawrence asked me to.
...for whatever incredibly bizarre, sadistic reason...
