I'd start with India and Richardson, but TB wouldn't even take the call for those two.
I think Fraley is a little bit better than Benson when fully healthy. Unfortunately he is frequently dinged up and has 2 fewer years of control. Also, Benson was more than a half win better than Fraley in 2023 with 50 fewer PAs. Benson seems like the more desirable asset at the moment.

Not a rumor and probably not worth much coming from Bowden but wanted to post anyways. Bowden lists Glasnow to the Reds as one of the six big trades he'd like to see at the Winter Meetings. And it's quite the package he'd give up.

To get Glasnow from the Rays, the Reds would probably have to start a package with Connor Phillips, who is one of their best pitching prospects, then add Tampa Bay’s choice of righty Graham Ashcraft or lefty Nick Lodolo, and finish it off with one of their third-base prospects, either Cam Collier or Sal Stewart. That’s a hefty price, but the Reds are ready to explode and if they land Glasnow, I could see them taking a huge leap like the Diamondbacks did this year and reaching their first World Series since 1990

I really want Glasnow, but I wouldn't give any of those arms-up to get him and I certainly wouldn't give-up two of them. He's a rental. If I'd give up two of those guys, I'd need Arozarena as well.
India and Richardson would be my offer (and I'm not thrilled about dealing Richardson). The Salary relief TB is after is a large part of the return for them. If they want more, then it needs to be a bigger deal.

Man … it’s hard to believe this guy was ever an actual MLB GM. That would be the package if Glasnow had 3-4 years of control remaining and a history of staying healthy. For one year of a guy who is extremely effective but basically never pitches more than half a season, I’d be shocked if the required package were anything even remotely close to what Bowden suggested.

I am not sure how much trade value that Glasgow unless cash is included.
I would think it would be more of a salary dump.

I really think the Reds need to focus on improving their defense and, IMO, Fraley is a significantly better defender in RF than Benson. He's also more of a middle of the order threat and the Reds are a bit lacking in guys who can change a game with one swing. They have a lot of guys who can do it occasionally but are short of that as a consistent long-ball threat. If winning in 2024 is the immediate goal, and it would be in a deal for a rental like Glasnow, Fraley gives the team a better chance to do that IMO.
I like Benson and would be fine keeping him as a DH/reserve OF, but if adding either he or Fraley to a deal to get Arozarena, who would be the everyday LF, I'd rather keep Fraley to play RF. If Arozarena isn't in the deal, I wouldn't deal either of them.

I ran Bowden's suggestion through BTV and it wouldn't take it...

I'd like to see the acquisition of another power bat from each side of the plate. What do we know about Mike Ford? 122+ OPS last year for Seattle, largely as a DH. Will K about 1 every 3 PA's but will also hit the ball out of the ballpark about 1 in 15-20 (and might be an excellent GABP fit). Not a FA until 2027. Non-tendered by the Mariners. Intrigues me but I don't know more than that about him. Info?

Basically, BTV would have him worth a Richardson + maybe a lower prospect.
Seems about right.

Me too, but I'm not sure there is roster room. This is a team with too many DHs already. Steer, Benson and India would all seem to best used as a DH (Fraley too, but he's not bad in RF).
1. Freidl
2. Mclain
3. Steer
4. Fraley
5. CES
6. Marte
7. Stephenson
8. Maile
9. Benson
10. EDLC
11. RH Bat to platoon in RF
12. Middle IF glove who hits a little
13. This would be the spot for a lefty bench bat with some pop (Ford, Martini, maybe Joey Votto)
Currently India would take one of those spots, though he isn't really a guy to platoon against lefties or a MI glove. He might get that last spot where Ford/Martini/Votto might fit.
If the season opened tomorrow those last three spots would be Fairchild, India and Martini. I'd like to see an upgrade at all three spots to add power and defense.

That's an absolutely insane package for one year of a guy who's never thrown more than 120 innings and is due 25 million next year. Does Bowden think we're trading for 1999 Pedro Martinez? I might move either Lodolo or Collier for Glasnow but not both, and I wouldn't trade either Ashcraft or Phillips straight up for him.
BTV has Ashcraft, Phillips, and Collier as a pretty big over pay for both Glasnow and Arozarena.
Re: Reds Trade And Free Agent Rumours 2023-24 Offseason
Just throwing some names out (for fun) that I don't see often.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - He's a guy with some pop who also contributes on defense. Shouldn't cost a lot, and could cover a lot of starts in LF and bump one of Fraley or Benson to a heavily used 4th OF role.
Lucas Giolito - He's been mediocre for a while, but it could be worth taking a chance with him on a pillow contract.
Jack Flaherty - Another pillow contract candidate.
Kevin Kiermaier - Off-the-wall idea, but Kiermaier could really solidify the defense and just it at the bottom of the order. Move Freidl to left and keep Fraley in RF, and suddenly the OF defense is good or better.
Frankie Montas - Could be interesting if healthy.
Joey Votto - Depth LHH option...don't make fun :)

I love me some Jim Bowden. Not because he's a great baseball mind, but because he gives me hope. If that guy can land multiple MLB GM roles in his career what's my excuse?

Well, you already got one GM job with the Reds, but you blew it when you traded Kearns and Lopez ;)
