Chris Bassitt signs with the Orioles for 1/18. He's basically a 37 year old version of Brady Singer(170 IP 3.96 ERA, 4.01 FIP last year for Bassitt). I think if Singer were on the open market this year his floor would be 3/45, and he'd likely get 60+ million guaranteed.
White Sox GM Chris Getz breaks silence on Luisangel Acuna switch-hitter mistake
Quote:
The Chicago White Sox traded away Luis Robert Jr. after plenty of trade rumors over the last year or so. It was a trade with the New York Mets, and it brought two players to the White Sox organization.
Truman Pauley was one pickup, but the headliner was Luisangel Acuna. But not long after he was acquired, Chris Getz, the White Sox general manager who just traded for him, made an embarrassing mistake calling him a switch-hitter when Acuna is a righty only.
After a video went viral depicting the many instances in which Getz got Acuna's handedness at the plate wrong, Getz released a statement. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic shared Getz's statement, which took on a joking tone.
Phillies are cutting Castellanos, according to their beat writer from The Athletic.
An underappreciated positive from the Suarez signing is that I could have seen the Reds paying the prorated minimum to "bring him home" and call that their big offensive move.

So would anyone rather have Cast on the bench rather than one of Bleday or Benson?
Cast bats right handed and Bleday/Benson are lefties so it makes for an awkward comparison. The projection systems like Bleday/Benson better as hitters (to say nothing of defense) so I don't see the angle for Castellanos.
Whereever Castellanos ends up he needs to have the nickname "El Presidente" going forward.

Castellanos himself addressed the “Miami incident,” as he termed it, in a post on Instagram today. He made no mention of the comment that apparently rankled so many of his teammates but admitted to bringing a beer into the dugout out of frustration after being lifted from the game by Thomson.
“After being taken out of a close ball game in front of my friends and family, I brought a Presidente into the dugout,” the Miami-area native wrote. “I then sat right next to Rob and let him know that too much slack in some areas and too tight of restrictions in others was not conducive to us winning.”
