If you recall, the Reds are expected to sign 19-year-old Cuban SS Michel Triana for about $1.3 million

Maybe it's because I have gotten old but most of those guys look 13 years old.

Looking up Fransen I found out they call the sport "honkbal" in the Netherlands which I will now never forget.

That's what the Reds were playing from 2015 - 2018.

Baseball America says the Reds are linked to "Dominican shortstop Brailin Minier and Cuban infielder Michel Triana". (We already now about Triana). They note we are also linked to "Dominican outfielder Deivi Alcantara and Dominican shortstop Adrian Castro:.
Video of Castro available here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzYWTbQAPGo/
Not finding much of anything else about the other guys, just that Alcantara hit pretty well at the Paulino Baseball Academy and there's some video here. It's probably spelling related but the only two results on the internet for Brailin Minier are the Baseball America article mentioning him and a blank Facebook page. And probably this thread sone.

The quickest way to rebuild the farm system would be for the Reds to cheat their pants off in the International Free Agent market like the Braves did a few years ago.

Wow, didn’t realize this. That sucks...

The Yankees did exactly this with Cuban SS Alexander Vargas last year. Vargas was set to sign with Cincinnati for $3 million next week, but the Yankees traded for enough pool space to lure him away with a $2.5 million deal last summer.
Also Fangraphs ranks Triana #33 amongst international prospects in this class, but interestingly calls him a 1B.

The @reds have been busy on the first day of the international signing period. Meet Michel Triana, Braylin Minier and Deivid Alcantara.

I still can't find anything about Braylin Minier on the internet, but congrats to him on his $1.8 mill. Maybe the Reds found a gem in the most remote part of the DR, who knows.
