Suarez called out on a bad call from Joe West. I know....I'm shocked too. Scooter grounds out on 1st pitch. Schebler K's.
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Possibly the best start we've seen from Romano this year, at least through 6. Looking a lot like the guy in Pensacola who racked up groundballs and generated whiffs.
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Sal Romano ERA against Pirates: 2.56
Sal Romano ERA against everybody else: 4.68
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Reds' team ERA against the Pirates: 3.03
Reds' team ERA against everybody else: 5.49
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
7 shutout innings for Sal on 89 pitches. I'd be fine letting him go out for the 8th.
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Romano is a good pitcher for GABP. Lot of grounders today. Nice outing for him.

Wish Winker had power... Oh wait another homer
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Half of Jesse Winker's home runs are against the Pirates.

Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Al Oliver was one of my favorite hitters to watch in the 70s.
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Reds have really crushed the Pirates this year. Bucs single handedly killed Reds' draft position.
Re: 9/16/17 - Reds vs. Pirates
Sal stays in to start the 8th.
1 pitch for the first out, pitch #91. See, this is a great learning experience because the lesson is you want to have this pitch count this deep in the game.

I had always hoped that Al Oliver might close out his career as a bench bat for the Reds, what with his Portsmouth roots. But there was never room for him on the bench.
