Entertaining game for sure.
Re: 8/29/18 Brewers @ Reds
Definitely a dog days of summer donnybrook! A 256 minute contest(starting 27 minutes late after a rain delay). 15 runs scored in the 5th thru 7th innings, at least 7 for each team. Back and forth scoring: 0-2,1-2.3-2,3-5,7-5,7-6,10-6,10-10,10-11,11-11,11-13,12-13. 46 batters reached base by hit, BB, HBP, or error, 25 scored. 13 pitchers with 9 of them having a game ERA of 9 or higher. 4 of 7 inherited runners scored. All position players got in the game. What kind of "fun" like this will there be when rosters get expanded in September!

Way late here with a seemingly unpopular opinion from what I've read, but I thought the ump got the call right with Lorenzen. He obviously squared to bunt, but when the ball made contact with his bat I don't think you could call that a bunt attempt. He recoiled back to avoid getting hit and the ball just hit his bat. Routine foul and good call imo.

Agree. That was a tough one, though. I changed my mind on it a couple of times during the discussion.

To me it comes down to if it would have been a strike had the ball not hit his bat. And I don't think it was close, he was bailing out...it would have been a ball. So if that's the case it wasn't a bunt attempt, just an anything but routine foul ball lol.

The umpire gives an explanation of the bunt attempt. Apparently if you are pulling your bat back like Lorenzen was and it hits your bat then its not strike three and just a foul attempt. That's something I never knew or even thought about.
