Glad to see Frazier back in there. And, even if he goes 0 for 4, thrilled to see BHam in. Just seems like the better decision to me; certainly relative to Robinson.. Would have liked to see Mesoraco back behind the plate too. And, not excited about Heisey in for Ludwick. Maybe something's going on with Meso I missed since at the game last night?
If last night was playing with one hand behind our back, this one feels like that hand is maybe now in a front pocket...or some imperfect analogy like that but probably makes some sense?
The Pirates are a very good team. Feels like we should be pulling out more stops to at least be serious about getting the WC1 spot if not making a serious division play. Don't these guys realize we hoofed it all the way from DC here for this series? Surely they can win at least one for us between Sat and Sun?
I know they like to give Ludwick day off on day games but this one I don't get. But go Bham!
Sigh. Well... Go Reds!
Choo's dinged up and Ludwick probably needs a rest...why the hate for this lineup?
Don't hate it. Just would like to see Ludwick. Especially since Heisey is 0 for his last 20.
Every lineup gets bashed unless it includes all the favorite players, in which case it is declared the best lineup of the season. LOL, it's to be expected, we can't complain about anything else yet, the game hasn't begun.
Hanigan usually catches Arroyo so that's not unusual. BHamilton is not unusual since Dusty explained it yesterday.
The only unusual thing is Ludwick sitting, particularly against a lefty, in a pretty big game. Could be defense, could be injury or fatigue, could be Dusty's normal pattern, could be day game after night game.
Maybe Dusty will address it. Hard to see him sitting Ludwick today against a lefty.
If you count SF as a home game, as intended, this is road game number 81 with the Reds currently 40-40.
If you count SF as a road game, as the websites do, this is road game number 82 with the Reds currently 40-41.
Ludwick has been mostly awful overall since he came back from the DL.
Let's not act like he's "must start" producing right now. Until he proves otherwise, he's just another guy that can be moved pretty interchangeably in and out of the line-up. At this point, giving him continued rest is probably the best bet to turn him into something more than that. And considering that he normally hits righties and lefties pretty equally, sitting him against a lefty makes just as much sense as anything.

Choo says he will play tomorrow. X-rays were negative. "That eased my mind. Was worried." #reds @Cincienquirer
This.
Why is he a must start? He's awful in LF, and PIT has the biggest LF in all of land. He's also essentially a singles hitter now. He has 7 xbh in 121 PA's. I'm not blaming HIM, I mean he is coming off of shoulder surgery, but we can't just play the guy hoping he gets back into form in 1 week.
To be fair to Heisey, he's hit lefties well this year, high SLG against them. Huge gap in OPS for Heisey good against lefties, not against righties. .815 OPS v. lefties, .592 against righties.
You'd think Ludwick would play today but it's not that big a deal, hopefully Heisey gets an extra base hit or two.
Bit worried about Choo, given that he's had surgery on this same thumb before. Thank god we have a day off this week.
Well, warts and all they are still my favorite ball club. Come on, fellas. Let's win one for the famer! ;)
Paul should have been in yesterday for Ludwick...I agree.
I also need to ask why does TBS have a contract with MLB when they are the Yankee, Red Sox station? This game is on but we get SF at NYY....because the Yankees are barely in a race for a 2nd WC?
This is all this station shows. Biggest piece of garbage, and I thought Chip and Skip were bad enough.
Who is calling Giants/Panthers but Thom Brennaman. Can't escape him.
Bengals scored 14 points in 12 seconds against the Packers.
Think the Pirates are afraid of BHam bunting? Lol
Lol....a hard grounder right to the SS and he fires it immediately almost throwing it away. I have never seen anything like that on a ball hit that well.
Well, Heisey broke his hitless streak.
They are the Pirates, George! Can you say it 1damn time.
Reds must get something here....need to jump ahead
Votto and BP walked, even this late in September we are unsure if they are paid to do this.
