The Sixers moved Danny Green's contract in the trade too. Melton instantly upgrades the Sixers' bench and, while I'm not enamoured with his shooting efficiency, he's still only 25 years old.
Now, being that E.J. Liddell has dropped past the first 7 picks in the second round, it's probably too much to hope that the Sixers find a way to trade/buy-in to grab him.
Nope. Liddell to the Pels at pick 41.

Isaac may not have two knees on his body anymore, so I'm thinking Paolo plays over him. Honestly, Orlando has a chance to get off of $30M worth of Isaac if they opt out of him now and that might be money well saved.

I don't know, the Lakers gambling on Michigan State vibes strikes me as an astrologically sound pick.

Parting with Green makes it even better. Melton is relentless.
I was figuring whoever got Liddell wins the second round. Well done Nola.

My first thought this morning was "Please don't be Aaron Gordon 2.0".

I was hoping for Chandler but i'm intrigued with Houstan. He seems like a kid who couldve returned for a second year in school and had a chance to really put himself on the map. Even at 6'8 he has a Franz like ability to play the 2. Hopefully I can catch a few SL games to watch him.
Re: 2021-22 NBA playoffs, 2022 NBA off-season and 2022 NBA draft
I really like Houston's draft-- they got really lucky on Smith (who I think is the surest player to be an All-Star in the group), drafted a defensive menace in Eason, then got TyTy Washington late in the process. Smith will likely start at the PF position and provide 20 per night as the second option on offense behind Green (who's a willing, ball-dominant passer).
Eason steps into a time share at the wing with JeSean Tate. Love his upside as both a scorer and especially a defender. He makes too many dumb decisions with the ball in his hands, but he won't be asked to do much beyond straight line drives off passes from Porter, Green, Smith, and Sengun (who's a seriously underrated passer himself). Moving Tate to a bench guy strengthens that unit as well and gives them a second offensive option beyond Eric Gordon (who's going to be dealt). Eason will take a bit of time, IMO, but his upside is an elite defender who can shoot from deep at a league average rate and throw down monstrous driving dunks. He could be disruptive as a four- or five-position defender.
Washington will likely step into the second unit microwave scorer roles previously (years ago) held by Eric Gordon. He'll play either point or off-guard adequately. As a combo guard, Washington can be a secondary ball handler. Serious Tyrese Maxey vibes from him-- down the the fact that he played at Kentucky. (Kentucky guards almost always seem to be better as pros than as college players-- Booker, Herro, Maxey, even Bledsoe, Hami Diallo, SGA, Mychal Mulder, Jamal Murray. Wings too, if you include Darius Miller and Keldon Johnson.) Love the fit of he, Josh Christopher (who flashed some interesting tools), Tate, Garuba, and maybe Jock Landale as a second unit.
I expect Houston to (finally) stretch Wall. (What they did to him last season was dirty, IMO.) Or they might try to deal he and KJ Martin together. (The Clippers could use both of them.)
Re: 2021-22 NBA playoffs, 2022 NBA off-season and 2022 NBA draft
If Detroit is able to land Miles Bridges (my preference) or Deandre Ayton as part of a RFA sign-and-trade, they become intriguing as a buy-low top six seed in the East.

If it was still March 2021 and UCLA had just lost to Gonzaga in their classic Final Four matchup, I would be super stoked that the Jazz ended up with Juzang. However....

Might be a year early for them to make that jump given how young they are, but if they get an action forward (don't rule out LaVine) and flesh out the roster a bit they definitely could challenge in the 7-10 range.

They have so much cap room and dollars to burn...I see some overpays coming,
They are also rumored to be in on Brunson too, though that may change.

Brunson doesn't seem like a good fit. The Pistons have guards.

Rudy Gobert has scrubbed all mention of the Jazz from his social media.

Rumors have Gobert headed to Atlanta, FWIW. Capella and Collins are likely involved. If the Jazz truly believe the can resign Whiteside and believe Azabuke (sp?) can contribute, perhaps Capella will be redirected elsewhere.
