Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Getting a lead off hitter with good on base skills and some speed has to be the biggest need for the offense now. The backup option would be Senzel hitting lead off if we can land another middle of the order bat.
Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Sounds about right although some would swap Senzel for Winkvin

I get that.
I chose the OBP over Senzel's speed and upside.
But I'm willing to be persuaded.
Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Sorry but I want to assume.

3. Moustakes - 2B
4. Suarez - 3B
5. Winker - LF
6. Senzel - CF
7. Votto - 1B
8. Barnhart - C

The most obvious guy on the market to fill the precise need is Marte.
Marte in CF. Senzel moves over to LF. Winker is traded, probably in the Marte deal.
Adds speed, OBP, more of a “true” CFer. Can lead off.
I guess Lindor too, but Marte probably more readily obtainable. I think Bucs must trade him and definitely will. Marte is in the $11-12 million range per year, Reds can handle that.

Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Winker at the top is problematic....he gets on base, but guy is just too slow.

I'm not claiming my 60 year old carcass would be worth a hoot, but what the heck..I still have extremely unrealistic fantasies..
Hey! and there's still my blazing 23 mph fastball that bounces across home plate!
Still not sold? I'd be a LOT cheaper than anyone on any MLB roster..
Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Fingers Crossed Hopefully (Senzel)
Fingers Crossed Skeptically (Votto)

Well since we don't have Ricky Henderson on this team you are going to have to make some concessions...
Re: Lineup with Moustakas?
Don't sleep on Aquino. He went into a slump to begin September as the league finally adjusted to him. But he adjusted back by the middle of the month and had over .800 OPS the final two weeks.

I actually think it's smart for the Reds to give Aquino a full shot in RF and see if he can become the second coming of Jermaine Dye. But the downside risk is huge and the Reds can't win if any one of the line-up question marks (Aquino, Votto, and Senzel) come up negative at this point. I'd feel a lot better if they removed the two known drags on the offense from the equation and replaced them with players who at least had the potential to be above average. I just don't think a serious contender can run a line-up out there with three everyday players whose OPS+ will be in the below 90 range. I think that is very possible with Aquino and almost a sure thing with Barnhart and Galvis. I don't think Senzel and Votto are certain to be better than that either to be honest. The Reds need more "likely to be at least average" production to lengthen the line-up. I think that is way more important than adding a single high end bat like Betts or Lindor, though one of them would certainly be welcome. This team needs to upgrade their poor line-up spots with 3 guys who can OPS+ somewhere between 100 and 110 more than they need one guy who might OPS+ over 150.
