What's really dumb is that Stephenson wasn't starting game 1. But it could be Bauer requested Tucker or something, AND if that were to happen then Ty Steve wouldn't have been available to pinch hit and none of us would be here because the Reds would have lost and we'd all have given up on the season.
So it's really not a big deal.
Well, better give Bell the credit for PH Stephenson for Akiyama in game one for win. We'll go with this judgement on whom to start game two.
Starting a player in the second game of a double header because he hit a homer in the first game is what High School managers do, not MLB managers.
For one thing, Casali has actually performed well so far this year, and secondly, it has as much to do with Desclafani’s preparation for the game.
It’s absolutely incredulous that you would make this change in the 11th hour because of one at bat.
I would have started Stephenson in one of the two games today, and Barnhart in the other, subject to comfort/approval from either of the starting pitchers.
The way you are describing how this process works is amateur hour.

Moran hurting Reds today.
Moran is history's greatest monster.
Nice throw Shogo!
Can we please stop pitching to Colin Moran?
Btw, can we decelerate the hype train on Steve as if he isn’t the second coming of Johnny Bench?
He ops’d like 780 in AA last year. Casali has 850 in the majors this year.
I like Steve, I loved the moment. He looks the part. But to suggest we need to start pushing people around the clubhouse because this kid homered today is really silly. The starts will come, and it’s not likely an Uber material difference in production which one plays today that we need a last second decision.
The same poster had a similar rant about the Reds incompetence on Jose Garcia, only to see him eventually come up hugely overmatched at the plate with a longer sample.

so is it 2-0 or 1-0?
We get a break there. Gotta run hard.
